Or if it is I can't find it. What level pet should I try for, in relation to my level? For example, I've been running around TS with a 24^^^ (white con to me) Grffin, which breaks charm quite a lot (Master 1 Coerce) and usually 2 shots me before I can get another charm on him. Should I bother getting one 24^^^? They get conned down when charmed anyway don't they? And should I generally stick to blue con mobs?Any advice apreciated

If you're in TS, try the warlock orbs or arisen inducers that spawn near RoV (both warlock-type mobs, so they'll have some pretty strong nukes with master charm). There's really no benefit at all to charming a ^^^, and they do break significantly more often--and at that level, will quite probably kill you when they break. Level doesn't matter so much as long as the mob is still yellow or lower to you; you'll notice somewhat lower break chances with blue and below, but master charm tends to smooth out those variations for ^ or weaker mobs.

It depends on what kind risk you can live with. Orange con pets rule!!!1!

A thing the struck me in your post is that you seem to cast charm on you pet if it brakes.

Are you nuts?

Get it under controll with a root or a mezz first.

My experience is usually running around with whatever mob is available, and I prefer a solo con over a heroic if there's a choice... Simply because, I don't want to give the person an easy PvP kill if my pet breaks. I don't rely on releasing my pet on players to kill 'em. I just go pure damage.

I have not noticed a difference in damage output; it seems to be the same... I also run with the idea that the pet acts like another player--the higher the level, the easier and harder spells land on players ... compared to a lower level pet.

Another thing ... For easier recharming, if your charm duration is less than 1 minute remaining, and you break charm, it will trigger the auto-mez.

Message Edited by Ibunubi on 09-14-2006 02:24 PM

its only like a .5 mez at level 20 charm. Always find the mage pets, and dont go ^^^..they get dumbed down to no arrows when you charm, so go with no arrows or ^, only advantage with the ^^^ is their power pool stays huge

Didn't get to try him in PvP, but the kodiaks right on the beach near the griff field in TS are awsome for questing. Was litteraly dumping him on a mob while I carried in foraging. Didn't kill too quick but hardly took any hits either.

Usually at those levels I found if you can charm a caster type pet that is higher level than the mobs you are fighting they cut through them rather easily.

I'd avoid the pets with arrows, or stick to a single arrow. Pets lose their health and damage they gained by being ^^^ when you charm them. So charming one is sitting on dynamite. Just waiting for something bad.The key is to find a pet without arrows, as they all turn into that anyway. But if it has no arrows naturally, it doesn't turn into a killer when charm breaks, but has everything any other pet would while charmed.I try to stick with yellows. With a master charm, you'll not run into the periodic resists all that often on a yellow. Oranges may do more damage, but they resist more regularly and you'll have issues more often. Finally, caster mobs. Doesn't have to be a wizard/warlock. Shamans rocks. Paladins are tough. Just anything that nukes. Avoid tank pets, but take a bruiser if you have to get a tank. You can tell bruisers (and most other kinds) by what buffs they have on them before they are charmed.

That buys you about 1 second to hit your mes before the 3 sec charm-break-mes expires on the pet.

Also, when you are not fighting with a charmed pet, take him off auto-follow and anchor him to a spot 30-40 meters away. I have found, in some cases, that when charm breaks and you are unprepared, its better to turn tail and run and then recharm when you get some distance on the mob.

Overall though, at the lower levels, chamring triple ups usually isn't necessary, unless there's just nothing else around.

Cyene
