New to Coercing (lvl 14) and just wondering should I use pet in PvP? Seem to remember something about people attacking pet to break control so it turns on caster.

I have a 43 Coercer on Venekor that I've been leveling up, and what I do is I find a nice caster NPC to charm if at all possible. The darkflight faries in EL work well, as do the wizard skelly's around ROV. The fairies in particular are awesome, they nuke for around 1200ish single target and AE for 600 or so in pvp (all this with master 1 Beguile). If I can't find a good caster pet I go find a yellow ^^^ and release it if Q's start attacking it. Once they mop up the poor sods I mez and recharm. Works fairly well for me, and if I die with that ^^^ charmed it will agro on them and kill them all anyway

Spell level and which charm you use does not affect the pet's damage. The rank of your charm is the only factor in damage output, which you see it has the biggest effect on spells the pet casts.

Before LU27, people would attack you and the pet would automatically protect you (even while in passive) and lock you in PvP. This is fixed now.

Gain a couple levels and charm a Caltorsis magi (if you have Charm or Coerce master) and you'll see the difference in PvP.

I have to say, I never thought of grabbing a wolf or bear for their snare :smileyhappy:. Meds, feel free to send me --Pett-- a tell if you have any questions.

Oh yeah, I only use a pet in PvP if I (or my group) stays in a zone for a period of time. Otherwise, if we're running around zones, I'll just put my Int/Agi buff up, then cast Empathic Link x4 (level 35 spell ... eats AOE spellcasters up).
