I've run through the Nest a few times this week, and each time I get to the end, do the ring event, and then explode when I try to kill the Chamberlain. I'm skipping almost all the mobs except the nameds, and his script makes it fairly obvious that this is making him stronger (or his pet, at the least). What's causing the real problem for me is the fact that he reflects every spell I throw at him back on me. This isn't something I've been able to find a way to handle. My question is this: Is this reflection a result of my not clearing the trash in the zone out? If I take the time and clear it all away, will I be able to actually land spells on him? Or do I just need to bring along a tank and a healer and quit wasting my time?Searches of the forums revealed that a lot of people claim solo kills of him, and he doesn't seem a particularly difficult mob aside from this factor, so clearly there's some way around it. I'm just hesitant to spend what will probably be hours clearing zone trash just to find out.Any help would be much appreciated.

Kill his pet.

Presumably killing his pet would be easier if I cleared more trash? I've had 100% resists of mez on the pet but it stayed parked, so I was just getting out of it's line of vision and trying the named.

Never heard of the last guy being tougher cuz you don't clear adds. Maybe mez or root the big guy and take out the pet first.

Burn his pet down, else you have no chance of beating him.

It has been my experience that he is more powerful depending on how many mobs you leave up. When he spawns, all other mobs in the zone disappear (including my pet that I brought from another floor), and the dialog says that he becomes stronger from the power of those mobs. Anyway, I have killed him both with killing everything and leaving some mobs up and he seems easier when you kill everything.

The only difference between him when you leave stuff up, and don't leave stuff up, is the pet. If you kill the pet, he is the same encounter as if you cleared the zone. Just remember, lower the elevator

Actually I have parsed him clearing everything and not clearing everything.... And either he just happened to have more HP's with all the trash or he actually gets weakened if the zone is clear.... I didnt save the parses so I can't prove it, but maybe someone can try it out and see if they get the same results.....

What pet/s (if any) do you guys use in Nest to do this? Thanks

Nailed it. Cleared the whole place, pet died in one shot or something, then he stopped reflecting and could be mezzed. Thanks again for the help! And as for pets, I generally use a ^ ransacking vultak from the second chamber. They have a 1.8-2.5k nuke with a 7s or so recast. They have one dot that they hardly ever use, and a poison/disease debuff which aids their nuke damage. It's possible that the highguards near the end rate higher dps with Blast, but by that point it doesn't matter anyway.

Message Edited by CronusFateweaver on 09-06-2006 07:18 PM

I'm glad I read this thread. I never knew that his pet was what was causing that reflection thing, and I thought he was just impossible to solo. Last night, I tried taking out the pet first, and I too was able to kill the Chamberlain.

However, I had to die a couple of times to do it. When the Chamberlain is activated, you lose your pet as all mobs in the zone despawn (except for the first floor mobs that constantly attack the owl guys). That leaves me with trying to kill his pet solo, and fast. I cleared every mob in the zone prior to this, but I still could not one-shot, or even two-shot the pet, before his daddy killed me dead. I got in about 1k damage to the pet, but it only took about 40% off his hp bar. Does that sound right? I was thinking about using one of those fire potions from HoF on him, but didn't have one on me at the time. How are you able to one-shot that pet?

So I died, and charmed one of those bottom floor attackers and tried again. This time, between my new best friend and I, we were able to kill his pet, but almost instantly, my new pet ate it too. This left me alone with the Chamberlain for a long time. I can usually solo named mobs in a reasonable amount of time, but I always use pets. Going solo takes a lot longer. In this case, it took me 49 minutes to kill that guy. It was miserable. There must be some better way for me to do it. Basically, I never let him even think about attacking me. If he's not stunned and eating nukes, he's mezzed. Maybe next time, I will see how good my root is, and hope he can't single target nuke me down. Does it take you guys so long to kill this guy?

Nimb

Yeah, it does take quite a long time to kill him. I'm sorry if I caused some confusion with "the pet died in one hit"... I was actually just exaggerating, as compared to my previous attempts. Using one of those first room mobs as a pet for the end mob seemed like the way to go to me also.Generally when I'm stuck in a safe spot with something like the Chamberlain, and I have to just suck it up and fight for an hour, I'll grab a book and get into a rhythm of using mez/hex/mez/sonic boom / repeat. I just watch out of the corner of my eye for a resist, and I can usually get a few chapters read! I know it's slower than other things I could be doing, but it's hands-off enough to let me stay entertained elsewhere.I'd recommend against the root, as your dps won't be loads higher and you're pretty much guaranteed a break or two. On top of that, I've heard that he has an AE, though I never let him loose long enough to see about that, it may have been removed when they tuned down KOS dungeons.I wouldn't do this again unless I was absolutely forced to, the loot/AA earned in this zone isn't nearly worth the effort, and the "I did it!" factor only requires one kill.

Message Edited by CronusFateweaver on 09-12-2006 10:43 AM

How many HP does he have ?!?

I mean 1 hour to kill him... crazy. I have the Fast casting AA line and was hoping to use the below script, when i try this guy..(perhaps not enough mana to last the fight)

Mez

Marred Psyche

Sonic Boom

Stroke

Ego Torrent

Goto 1
