<DIV>Hi all,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm new to EQ II. Actually I'm new to EQ period. I played L2 and loved that game, until it became corrupt. Anyways....I actually started playing a Wizard, and dropped that class after reading about how ineffective they were at higher lvls. Next I tried a Bruiser and never really took to the class. So after talking with my friends, I decided to try a Coercer. I gotta say, I love this class. I'm still a noob (lvl 19) but I love the versatility of this class. Meaning: I can tank (using a pet obviously), I can do crowd control, I can debuff , my buffs are decent, etc etc etc. Really, the only negatives I see on the class....which aren't really negatives at all, they are just to balance us out.....is that we are in cloth armor obviously, and we can't see stealth. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've read before how people are confused on how to play the class, and that people don't like to group this class, but I guess I'm just lucky. I'm lucky that I have 2 other friends that started up with me, and that I know my role in the group/solo in different situations.  I still have a hard time understand why they aren't a sought after class for groups though.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I love this char in pvp especially. I love to see people run in and try to gank me when I'm with my Defiler buddy, root them, debuff them, and drain all of their power. After their power is gone, they all run away....or at least try too. Gotta love Mez and Root. >=)  All in all, I think this is a great class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So I guess this was just to show a little love for the class. hahaha. Yea, I know...lame....but the community here for Coercer's is amazing. Those FAQ's are really nice as well and very informative.</DIV>

<DIV>I'm new as well, and I completely agree! My coercer dies as much as any 3 of my other characters combined, but I still would rather run her than any of the others. I just wish I could maintain Adventure Vitality better!</DIV>

Yep, be prepared for many deaths if you aren't very careful controlling mez/stuns/charm, etc.  The biggest downfall of my coercer, in my opinion, is that the reactives in a group setting are worthless, they will take a maximum of one time before said mob dies.  However, we are not a dps class, and rely on boosting the abilities of our groupmates in order to better succeed.  Coercer is definately a raid class, so if you are using it in single group settings only, illusionist might be better for you.  Keep in mind classes are always changing every update, so don't build a class up based on what is the best at any given time. <div></div>

Unless something has changed and the latest spell lists are inaccurate, Coercers get See Stealth at level 9. <div></div>

<P>The biggest problem you are going to see is that most of the people at low levels are alts, they are more interested in powerleveling so they build groups heavily towards DPS and honestly in a group coercers arent that good at DPS (at low levels at least) course any group that is looking at a marathon run will welcome a coercer but most people know that it is a tricky class, if played well you can make a group near invincible, played poorly  it is a leech class that brings only mana regen to the table. I think at higher levels coercers are demanded because folks expect you to be better by then and seriously if you take some good time to learn your toon well they can be unbelievable asset to any group, just know your role, not every group wants you to mez unless things get real bad, stuns and stifles turn mean things into kittens, I am still low level with my coercer but I have kept groups alive and grinding even when the healer leaves, master charms are an absollute must especially if you want to solo grind, charm a preist or mage and lay waste to solo mobs for hours without break.</P> <P>Rest assured, while a coercer isn't always a neccesity in all tiers, if I am going somewhere with a group in T7 and an enchanter is on LFG that enchanter is getting grabbed FAST whether needed or not because they can keep a group going for a long time.</P>

Which severly cripples the DPS from the AOE's it happened a few times that i blew my aoe dps on one mob cause the rest was mezzed. I sent him a subtile tell to not do this cause it hurts our pace in killing stuff he didnt reply and went his merry way! i got [Removed for Content] and said it in groups dammit stop mezzing inside the encounter the tank can handle it those adds would have been dead if ya didnt mezz them. </P> <P>So plz you might love the class but also respect that yer mostly an asset when [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] hits the fan dont go freaking mezz happy it will only slow a group of a zerker / warlock / ranger / brigand / fury / coercer down only mezz when its needed like having 5 heroic adds that are yellow to yer MT!</P> <P>welcome to the coercer community i hope ya enjoy it a lot!</P> <P>Breezy 70 coercer of lucan</P> <P>Styxxey 63 ranger of lucan</P>

<P>Thx for the replies/suggestions. Much appreciated.</P> <P>Question for the higher lvl Coercers out there......do you find that your Root/Debuffs/Mez are resisted a lot in pvp? I read that the Wizard's get resisted constantly, and I'm hoping that isn't the case for Coercers.</P>

<DIV>Thx for the link. That doesn't look very promising at all. Strange thing is, I've been pvping and I don't really get resisted that often at all....even from higher lvl toons. I guess I've been lucky and they haven't twinked out those chars yet. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>[expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]...that really sucks to hear. I think I'm still going to stick with this class tho and I guess hope for the best. </DIV>

I know it has been said in that thread but unfortunatly casters of any type arent fantastic at high levels in PvP, doesn't mean you don't have a role, all those scouts are gonna need someone to help them, just means that you cant expect to be able to solo kill a ranger at lvl 70, but hey YOU may get resisted a lot, but it doesn't mean your pet will be, just get inventive, try new strategies and you never know, you may end up suprising a few people that completly discount you.

yeah T7 sucks for cloth wearers on PVP. All you see is where would you like to revive you die so fast. This needs to be corrected imo.

All you need is Volatile Magic + Savant's Channeling to increase your dps significantly. I'm not that big a fan of the agi line, but that's just me... most of our spells are only 1-2 second cast times, so it's not like we lose much from proc gear.   Instead I spec'd heal crits, which are alot more beneficial if you're in the MT group of a raid (or any group for that matter).I think this is a good combo for enchanters who want to beef up their dps w/out wholly neglecting every form of utility.<div></div>
