I posted this same thing in PvP forum...a warning to those who are not 70 yet and play on PvP servers
I cannot believe that I am leaving this game for the same reason I left WOW. Caster resists are so high in EQ2 it is unbelievable…uh....unplayable. Plus, if your spells do land, the amount of spell mitigation available for all classes is outrageous (detrimental in PvP). Plus, for a caster to fight a priest class is just a joke (we die, they laugh). I don’t understand why SOE has not changed such a big discrepancy between classes in PvP. As a coercer with 90% of my spells at master level, I get resisted all the time. I defiantly cannot count on a spell to land…which is sad. If they don’t land, I don’t even have a chance to run. I am finding that even in PvE I can’t count on my spells to land. Some resists are fine, but to notice it this bad in PvE makes the game not fun.

What pushed me over the edge was one day in a PvP fight as I tried to attack an assassin, I casted four spells with EACH of them resisted. At this point it isn’t about how much skill I have, or the skill of the assassin as he can easily kill me, since I can’t touch him; but the game mechanics that have made a cloth wearing, low health, must stand still to cast (with long casting times…more so Wiz/Warlck), class unable to do anything but stand there and get pwned. I cannot believe this would be fun for anyone.

The funny part about the above fight was that the assassin was focused on another ally and never noticed that I was even hitting him (err trying to hit him with spells). I just gave up and left my ally to die.

I refuse to conform to the game and play a class that I don’t like in order to even succeed in PvP.

We all know that SOE realizes how many scouts there are now on PvP servers and why that is. I just hope they fix this issue with casters before others leave.

Take care all,

Omoc

70 Coercer (Vox)

Welcome to EQ2, and the system that wasn't designed for PvP. You get what you pay for, and PvP is a free piece of [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] addition to a PvE game. Don't like it, take it to the PvP forums, not the coercer forums where the majority of us(including Illusionists) don't give a rats [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] about PvP.

Did you post this same information on all the other post on PvP here? If I wanted to know more about Coercers in PvE or PvP, I would come here not the PvP forums. Thanks for your helpful information (post)

deep breaths cal. to the OP i agree its sad that noone is really balancing pvp. the resists are a joke, but the amount of resists needed on many pve raid mobs mean its easy to max resistance. I think there should be a softcap for it in pvp tho.its amazing how melee classes do purely because they have a fair few stuns.. and many classes have no way to mitigate melee the same way they can mitigate spells..ie: +1000slashing rings etc. I think it would totally imbalance the game having them - but surely the same is true for resists?

It took you 70 levels to find this out? :smileysurprised:I noticed it when duelling at low levels. The problem is you don't need to get anywhere near resist caps to stand a pretty good chance of resisting everything from a caster. I'm sure this is an issue for all caster classes in PvP not just coercer.I'm having no problems with spell reliability in PvE except on the boss in Vaults and I can solo almost anything you can name reliably.

Roflmao bud I been told Cytomel - developer who played and tested coecer in PvP WAY time back in beta that this going to happend... Developers were WELL aware about this and YET I been told that is a game design and its a way that things meant to be ... so suck it up. EQ2 never meant to be PvP game and fankly if I'd want PvP I'd go DAOC best PvP engine ever

Fundamental problem is that whilst it's EASY for any class to cap resists to prevent damage from casters, it's impossible for cloth classes to cap mitigation or avoidance to prevent damage from melee.

Well, due to our cloth armor mitigation, we have to have something protect us. It might as well be protection (resists) from other mages
