Was Ego line (shock, strike, blast, burst, etc.) overpowered pre LU24? I miss the root effect.

Preface:  This post is really just to express an opinion, and see if others are feeling similarly.  This isn't mean to be a whining post.While I can still solo my lvl 59 coercer (he's a gnome, has a pillow-hat, and is quite sexah), my solo playstyle has significantly changed since LU24.  I guess, for me, what's so frustrating about it is that LU24 was a great update for coercers, in general.  I feel that the class provides some amazing abilities and opportunities to groups, even though they are often overlooked and underappreciated.I'm frustrated, however, by the removal of the root from the Ego line (primarily when soloing).  The removal of the aggro reduction component from perplexity, confoundment, etc. (stun) spells has further complicated things.My opinion is that while the new daze effect has its uses, the root was more helpful overall.   To me, it seems like devs added some new, group-friendly functionality to the spell, then felt they had to remove an effect to justify the new functionality.  Was the root effect really  too powerful or unbalancing?  Could it be added back into the line, similar to the ae warlock root?<div></div>

<P>I too miss my second root for soloing.  But truth be told I spend most my time raiding now... and the daze is way more useful for raiding.   When and if you start raiding in ernest your feelings may change on the usefulness of you new daze affect.</P> <P>In short I do sympathize with your feelings over the loss of a second root for soloing; but on the whole I like the change because I have some usefulness on raids now.</P> <P>Much the same resaoning applies to shifting our deagro to the link line.</P> <P>Coercers can still solo quite effectively with a good charmed pet: Fury types tend to be my personal favorites.  We are not quite the gods we once where... but we still do just fine.  Try this for soloing: charm a pet, put enraging demenor on the pet and link on your self. That should allieviate some of the aggro issues.</P><p>Message Edited by Chrysostom on <span class=date_text>07-22-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:55 AM</span>
