I was watching my room mate, who plays a 70 Necro, go through the solo trial. It was the one you enter through clicking the scroll. 50 mobs in 30 minutes. He didn't seem to be having trouble killing mobs, but finding his way through the maze was hindering him.

My question to my fellow Coercers: Anyone completed this trial?

We aren't known for our l33t solo DPS & the combination of searching through a maze & killing with a time limit seems kinda rough for us. If you've completed the trial please share your strategy.

The kill 50 is easy

the kill 75 is impossible

the get 75 may be possible (reason non arrow mobs)

the get 100 shards is impossible ( unlesh there are alot of pots)

the kill 100 is possible (had 92 or 82/100 on first try (reason V mobs)

the destroy 5 pots, dunno, but it sound possible (entered the zone to check what Q was, around 02:00 am, mobs are v)

Saw atleast 1 fellow coercer asking where the last mob was on the 100 trial.

My general advice pull with auspex, tha aplly spell scourge, tank the mobs yourself, they will die fast, esp if you've a charm as well. Also use food to regen faster, maybe also totems/potions if they stack, and if you need them.

Pull 2 or 3 V mobs with sonic boom is also nice (give 1 mob auspex, 2nd mob on charm 3th mob nuking with ego torrent and splitpaw nuke) will go also fast, major prob is recovery time and finding mobs, dps is fine.

Statman, seems we kill at about the same rate. Took me 2 goes to find all the mobs then the third time I completed the kill 50 in 22 mins.

For those just about to try these trials, I recommend you do not accept the quest you are offered until you have spent a few minutes exploring the zone.

I am finding the kill 75 extremely difficult. I have tried 6 or 7 times now. I can kill 60 easily. Pushing hard, I have died and still managed 69 kills. But the best I have managed is 70 with another 3 lined up to die. During all my best tries I was drinking Droag Swill (hence 40% run buff) and eating decent food for health regen. I cannot find a way to kill the mobs fast enough without dieing. Tanking anything other than the 69s is far too dangerous/slows the kill down while I stun instead of nuke.

I am fairly well equipped with lots of FT and fully specced in the AGI AA line, The only damage proc I have is the GrizzleFazzle stick. I have M1 charm and at least AD3 on every other damage spell/root/stun (though I do use T6 spells for root and focus).

BAH I just realised why I am getting a lot of resists with my M1 root . Serves me right for assuming a master I used at 60 would be better than an adept1. Time I bought Ruinous Hesitation rather than waiting for the master to turn up.

Seems I will have to have at least one more attempt when I have the root upgrade. I doubt if it will give me the extra 2 or 3 minutes I need.

I am out of Droag Swill ... Does anyone know of another 40% SoW drink or potion or totem ?

Can anyone suggest anything else I can try?

Has anyone with Adept 1s and Treasured armour tried these trials and succeeded?

PS. I have tried the 50 and the 100 shard trials too but I find these impossible. When they fix the drop rate of the 70+ mobs I will try again. Any 70 who completes even the 50 shard trial must have had a lot of luck with the level of the spawns and the number of Vases.

Any idea where im missing my last 3? I know there is a underwater tunnel that takes you to a small lake room, are there any in here? I never found any in there but i figure it has to be there for a reason. Maybe ive just missed them in there everytime?

There were none in the water each time I tried the 50 trial. I take it you found both water rooms ? The obvious one and the one which is down the ramp from the room with the broken stairs.

3 sounds right for the little loop up the NW branch of the 3 paths. Also take care to look behind pillars. There is also a small dead end branch which is easy to miss. Trouble is it is hard to to describe where it is.

I suggest you draw a 'box and string' diagram for the maze and double check you found all doors.

If this is your idea of a joke then it is in very poor taste ...

It is rediculous to expect coercers to do these trials without a pet.

If they do this then why don't they ban the use of summoner pets too ?

It is already hard enough when letting your pet die causes you to fail because a dead pet does not count. Yes I deliberately let a pet die once to test it. Whether pre-damaged or not dead pets do not count.

If this has been put on live servers, I for one shall be petitioning/feedbacking when I am on.

I'm not sure what they were thinking when they pulled out charm but if the only reason was because a few coercers couldn't complete the trials cause their pet died then this is the most rediculous change I've ever seen them do. A handful of people can't cancel their pet in time so every one of us has to suffer? How about this: give us charm back in those trials and if you're the kind of [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] that can't seem to keep your pet from dieing (ie you lose updates) then YOU use another method rather than making the rest of us have to.I did every single solo instance except the 100 shards (that one isn't programmed right, I think) and in some cases I barely got by. Without charm, it's gonna be a pita if not impossible.

Yeah, bogus change imo. I did the 75 kill trial solo with a few minutes left and the 50 shard trial I finished with a minute or so remaining (this is at 69 with no sonic boom and using Magus M2, no auspex ad3/master). I'm sure other classes could easily have done it faster even if I had all my important masters. The pets don't do much damage at any charm quality - they auto attack almost entirely. They're just nice meat shields for reactives to proc on.If they disable charm in the heroic instances, I'm fine with that. I'd be [Removed for Content] if a coercer in my group broke the trial with charm too. For solo instances, though, I'd rather them just make a message appear if there aren't enough mobs left to complete the trial. I can't see any way a coercer without raid gear could complete the 75 kill trial (something that'd be trivial for quite a few classes in 1 group legendary type stuff) without charm - I can't tank those things well enough to go at a good pace with no downtime.I know some classes couldn't do the 75 kill trial either, but that doesn't change the fact that the change was completely unnecessary. It's not like poorly geared/mastered coercers were blazing through the 100 kill trial because of charm.

Eh, I've been over reacting a little bit. I calmed down and tried it sans charm and I've been able to do most of them. There are still a few that either I keep running out of time with little left to do or I have very little time left when I finished. It would still be nice to have charm as an option to use at your own discretion.
