View Full Version : Why can't I choose Coercer class?
<div></div><div></div>I am new to EQ2. This is my first character. I chose High Elf as Race but had no option to choose Coercer as my class. The closest I saw was Illusionist plus 3 other mage-types. I probably am overlooking something very basic so please bear with me.ThanksHow786<div></div><p>Message Edited by how786 on <span class="date_text">06-03-2006</span> <span class="time_text">01:45 PM</span></p><p>Message Edited by how786 on <span class="date_text">06-03-2006</span> <span class="time_text">01:46 PM</span></p><p>Message Edited by how786 on <span class=date_text>06-03-2006</span> <span class=time_text>01:46 PM</span>
Certain classes are limited to members of specific alignments(good/evil). A High Elf can only choose to start in Qeynos, and thus can only pick the good classes. Coercer is an evil specific class, and limited to citizens of Freeport. The good equivelant is the Illusionist. If you want to be a Coercer, you have two options, either select a race that can start in Freeport, or begin the game as an illusionist, and later betray to Freeport and become a coercer at that point. For a first character, I'd personally recommend starting in Freeport and playing a Coercer from the get go. Even with the changes coming to betrayal, it is a fair investment of energy. I started this game with the intention of amking a High elf necro, working through betrayal, almost wore me out on the character. For future reference for you.Neutral classes(available regardless of city):GuardianBerserkerWizardWarlockDirgeTroubador WardenFuryGood classes(Qeynos only):PaladinMonkConjurorIllusionistRangerSwashbuc klerTemplarMysticEvil classes(in the order of their Qeynos counterparts):ShadowknightBrusierNecromancerCoerce rAssassinBrigandInquisitorDefiler<div></div>

<DIV>Coercers are only available to a race that is able to start in Freeport. High Elves start out in Qeynos. As such they will only be able to become a Illusionist and later on possibly betray to Freeport and become a Coercer.</DIV>
Thanks for the rapid response. Hmmm....now, as a newbie, I have to figure out which races are evil.I guess that won't be too hard.Appreciate the help guys!How786<div></div>

In case you're still reading this, I'll give you the break down now.Evils(Freeport starting only):Dark Elf, Iksar, Ogre, Troll, RatongaNeutral(Start either city):Human, Erudite, Barbarian, Gnome, Half-Elf, KerranGood(Qeynos Only):High Elf, Wood Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, FroglockI think that covers all of them, I hope. They are also broken down nicely on the selection screen. The good races come in the first 5 slots going left to right then up and down, followed by the neutrals, then the evils. Basically, lower on the selection screen = more evil.</div>

<DIV>If my memory serve me well - dridge is evil only class, truobadur is good only</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>but answering OP</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Coercer is FP based class thus in order to get it you have to be neutral or evil... Stat wise I HIGHLY recomend you start with erudite due to race specific ability called "magic aura vision". Coercer class is about charming that is (tm) of class and its extremely usefull to be able distinguish between mages, priest and melee NPC then you charming</DIV> <DIV>Other good choice of evil caster would be dark elves and ratonga</DIV>
Dirges and Troubadors are both neutral classes. It would appear on initial glance that they would be alignmnent specific, but they are not.<div></div>
