My friend and I are thinking about making some alts, he wants to make an inquisitor, now I don't really want to play a tank, so I was thinking about playing a coercer. I don't really know much about coercers, so I'm not sure what tactics would be best for this kind of duo. We would like to pvp, explore instanced dungeons and do heritage quests. In my solo time I like to pvp and kill nameds. One of my concerns is encounters with large numbers of mobs. I can imagine taking up to maybe 3 mobs, but anything more than that would seem difficult. Does AE mezz last long enough to do larger encounters? In particular on our mains we encountered some tough boss encounters with multiple adds. What is a good How are coercers at taking down ^^^ nameds solo? What kinds of encouters are coercers best at taking down? <div></div>
Coercers don't pump out much dmg... So.... and inq + coercer could be good but your battles may be a lil lengthy unless ur lookin at master charm. I have found that Bruiser/Coercer duo is by FAR the best duo you can have as a coercer. Bruisers have stuns and high dps and a tanking ability with self heal FTW. After the HUGE nerfs commin in I might be inclined to say Monk over Bruiser... WHY IS SONY KILLING BRUISERS SO BAD???? Anyway.. as for soloin heroics.. most classes have this ability too.. it just takes a long time.. as it does with coercers.. its not a secret tactic.. You just have to plan a strategy and they vary depending on the mob. In my opinion this is the funnest part about coercers. Strategy strategy strategy....

<P>A Coercer & Inquisitor would be like the chinese water torture version of duos. You'd eventually break the mobs down it would just take forever. Now, it would probably be one of the safest duos out there but glacial in it's progression. Of course, as stated earlier, master charms can make a TON of difference in damage output but that can often be difficult to come by.</P> <P>If you're dead set against rolling a tank and your friend absolutely has to be an inquisitor I would then suggest a swashbuckler, brigand, or assassin as a nice complement. Here's my reasoning. Inquisitors have average dps for a healer, nice debuffs, and primarily reactive heals (meaning they heal for a bit when you get hit). The 3 scout classes I've mentioned provide great damage, decent armor so they can take a hit, and the swashy, and I believe Brig, even get a few taunts to help keep the aggro off your friend. Or, since inquisitors wear plate just let them get aggro and back-stab away on the bad guys ping-ponging aggro back and forth between the two of you. </P> <P>While I love my coercer to death, I just wouldn't see that big of an advantage to duoing with most healers. For my money I'd be better off just soloing. The best duos I've been in have been with damage dealers, especially wizards and necromancers. Even in my early 20's I had enough CC spells to blaze through white and yellow ^^^ heroics with a wizard at my side. I could keep them locked down long enough for him to burn them down with minimal danger to ourselves. Not exactly challenging or flashy but effective.</P>

LoL Chinese water torture would be right, I dont see a healer and a coercer going very far. I agree with the Bruiser duo, and also endorse a pally to duo with. As long as you have someone to keep the mob off you and your pet, you can do a lot of dmg over the fight. I still want to try duoing HoF with a pally, but havent as of yet. I have also duod with wizards, warlocks are also good because we both have decent AE nukes. In the end, because of past experience, I would go with a Pally personally, though Im sure others have had success with other classes

<DIV>my alts are warlock and coercer, technique i used for duoing groups of even heroics and below, warlock casts larges ae nuke, (not the dot), coercer group mez 2 seconds after warlock starts casting. repeat this until mobs are low health then warlock cast devestation, coercer cast group stun / damage spell forget name. all mobs die. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>works very well occassional resists need to be single mezzed or charmed. but the changes sound like they will end this tactic, back to the drawing board i guess.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>for single target heroics, i just root and stun with coercer and burn with warlock, warlock runs out of power quickly so go all int and power regen on thier gear</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>edit: just to add, if u do go duo with another mage, in dungeons your going to die more, my mains are bruiser / defiler il die maybe 3-4 times a night if im duoing in a tough dungeon, with 2 mages you can easily get into double figures, the exp is quicker as a trade off though, if you can afford master spells to reduce resists and increase your productivity you will massivley increase your exp rate</DIV><p>Message Edited by djinnz on <span class=date_text>06-04-2006</span> <span class=time_text>06:20 AM</span>

<DIV>A Coercer can duo with ANY class in the game effectively and be extremely proficient at it. It all depends on the pet class and you better have a master charm. I do, of Domination and I have duo'd with everyone and been extremely successful. Duo'ing in Sanctum of the Scaleborn...Blackscale and yes Halls of Fate is EXTREMELY easy.</DIV>
