<DIV>I played an Enchanter in EQ1 for quite a while, and I'm having a hard time adjusting to my EQ2 coercer.  One technique that was pretty basic CC used to be to AOE stun in a bad pull/situation and then use single target mez to lock down the problem.  The problem I'm having is that first, there is no quick cast AOE stun in my spell book.  Second, the recast delay and unsettlingly long cast time on the single target mez lets the group take a ton of damage, thereby negating my entire purpose for being there.  By the time I get lets say 3 adds locked down, the group is either dead or has killed at least one (most likely 2) of the adds and the original mob.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does this get better at higher levels?  My PVP coercer is still in his mid 20's so I understand I may not have my full compliment of spells yet; but it seems like I could do CC much earlier in EQ1.  I'm able to keep 3-4 mobs "locked down" by chain cycling my mez, but I feel more like a bard doing CC than an enchanter.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, many groups have asked me to "not bother with mez" which is sort of a put-off.  After a while, I get annoyed by people not assisting and I'll start charming stuff the MT isn't fighting, but this can be counter-productive sometimes.  In many cases, I know there were places you simply wouldn't go in EQ1 without some sort of crowd control.  Is EQ2 so WOW-ified that enchanters are completely un-needed except for haste (excuse me, + DPS buff) and breeze?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, whats with all the running around in the middle of the aggro areas of zones and the loss of the art of pulling?  It's like I've stumbled into an entire game where people play like complete newbies even into the upper 60's (my main was a 68 assasin).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How do you guys deal with this stuff at the higher levels?  I'm looking for some sort of light at the end of the tunnel and hoping it's not a train.</DIV>

<P>I play a 52 corecer on nagafen (PVP) - I have had several groups where people would break mez and they told me not to mez. Its funny because soon as I just sat there and nuked with my uber 800dmg and pumped mana the group died on bad pulls. I then mezed and soloed going jee mez sucks glad I didnt mez them. Sometimes they change there tune othertimes they just start calling me a noob and the rest of the group starts yelling at them for not knowing how to play with a enchanter in the group.</P> <P>There are times though when your group really dosnt need mez duirng a xp grind if you have a good group you can take a whole encounter without mez and it goes faster because the tanks can repost and people can AoE. Just throw up manacloak and minds eye with some pumping action and your set to let the xp roll in. </P> <P>However there are times when you just get to much and you need to know how to Root, AoE, Mez, and lock down encounters quick. The TAB key becomes your best friend sometimes and work on your AA's doing the AGI will speed up your casting times. I hardly have any issue locking down 5 seperate encounters with roots, & mez. At 50 you get a nice AoE dmg + stun you can use to lock them down some.</P> <P>I will say this LU24 isnt going to be nice to you, our mezs, stuns and roots get tampered with to where we will not be able to lock down as much as we can now or not as easily. Also our DPS gets nerfed (lets hope they say charming a ^^^ heroic will keep it ^^^ heroic and not a normal solo mob with crap hp).</P> <P>Hope that helps.</P>

<P>I've noticed that charming heroic mobs seems like a bad idea - WRT the comment about charming tripple up heroics not changing into a watered down regular mob.  This is how it works today, correct?  I've noticed on the occasion that I was suicidal/masochistic enough to try to fight with a charmed heroic that it simply got destroyed by normal non-heroic mobs, then when charm broke, it healed itself instantly back to full health and proceeded to whomp on me in it's full super-heroic glory.  I was paste in about 2 auto attack hits, where it was hitting the other mobs for trivial damage....  This is just messed up, and if they wanted to make someone happy, fixing this would be an awesome way to make up for the CC nerf of LU24.</P> <P>I guess I really like doing crowd control (and charm) which is why I really want to play my coercer.  It just seems that this role isn't appreciated or understood, even by the developers who design and make this game.</P> <P>How many AA's and what line do I need to be able to get my cast and recast times down into the 1 second range?  Is there a way to get mez times up close to the 45+ seconds I had when I was a level 20 EQ1 enchanter?</P>

<DIV>I would have to say I doubt they will ever make it to where we get Heroic NPCs again. I dont think our class is misunderstood but I do think we can imbalance the game but what class cant in certain situations. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you want to speed you casting up it wont be to much but every little bit helps. you would need atleast 21 points to notice any type of change.</DIV> <DIV>Manaflow(1) > Agi (4) > Chono...(4) > (Next abiltiy) (4) > (next ability) (<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>(edit) Now that I think about it - the changes to the mez lines length and lowering of the dps of other spells could be a direct result of all enchanters choosing this line so now they forcing new rolls of this class to do same line.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Vorlak on <span class=date_text>05-26-2006</span> <span class=time_text>04:10 PM</span>
