<DIV>Ok, that's a broad statement for sure. Here's my situation; Leveling up to 50 was pretty painless - now however, groups are extremely difficult to come by. I'm not sure if its that people do not understand what we offer to groups, but I look for groups literally for hours with very little success. I don't enjoy soloing so much, but do it for writs. However, there's only so many Sandscrawlers a guy can kill before he starts to lose his mind. Is this a reflection on our class, or is Nektulos still F'd even in light of a server merge?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any suggestions for <EM>coercing</EM> ppl into grouping? I feel like the kid that gets picked last for kickball. =/<BR></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Myntal, 54th Coercer of Nova</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I've come to rely on my friends list for grouping. Early on it was extremely difficult for me to find groups. Normally I was picked because nobody else was looking or they thought I said conjuror instead of coercer. Anyway, after wiggling my way into some of these groups I would generally leave at least one or two of the other players with a very good impression of what a coercer can do, and me specifically. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>After that I would just keep an eye out for those players and try to group up with them again at a later time. Now I'll get tells about groups that are just starting because they want me to come along. I've now got some people to see me as an assett to a group instead of a dead weight. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For me, I really felt like I had to sell this class to other players which is something I've never really had to do with any of my other toons except for maybe my troubadour. As a coercer I've had people think I was a healer class and others that thought I was supposed to be a straight up dps class. The most common problem, however, has been grouping with people that don't know how our crowd control works. We'll get adds, I'll mezz them, then someone will cast a pbaoe and scream at me for not keeping the mobs locked down (if they even know I can do that). So again, often I find myself explaining what a coercer does, how their skills work, and what I bring to the group. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, sell yourself to people and eventually, if you're a decent player, you'll develop a list of people that value what you bring to groups, that recognize your name, and you'll find that your LFG time is much less than it used to be. </DIV>

I solo'd from 50 - 70 basically. I didn't even try looking for groups. The only time I joined groups was to help a fellow guild person do a quest or something. There were a couple of times when I would join up with guildmates for an XP group but they didn't have many people as low level as me so I was stuck with PUGs or soloing. The thing is, even if people know what your class can do there is a point when even that becomes useless. Most groups that I joined didn't want me to mez unless we really started to get into trouble. There was usually a few group mates that liked to AoE so I'd hold off on mezzing unless it was absolutely necessary. Even still I was a great group asset for my ability to stun a mob for most of the fight and add a lot of DPS to a group (through pets). Well when you get to KoS, they made most enemies of any substance (nameds and a good amount of ^^^'s) immune to stun, so even that goes out the window.I really don't think coercers have any place in the late game. I don't think Sony has interest in anything but the tank-heal-nuke strategy. I loved being a coercer because I had the ability to make a group work without a tank or a healer. I could load up my group with DPS and have a great group. Before KoS any group that had enough faith to stay with me long enough to see what I could do would always want to group with me again. Coercers used to add diversity to a group that no other class could, but not anymore. I'm sorry, I'm sure you didn't make this topic to hear the same old complaining that you could hear in any other thread, so I'll just answer your question. Yes I had a lot of problems find a group when I was in your level range.<div></div>

thats rough stage to try an group at any class but especially as a "mysterious" class... (bards, enchanters, rogues ect..). My advice make a duo buddy and do your best to hang with a core group. coercer can duo bout anything they can't solo. Trying to educate en mass is a headache and gives you wrinkles and causes u to drift towards that whiny enchanter syndrome. Play around their issues if possible and if not move on... once you get into the higher levels it gets better but best is find a good guild, core group ect that you can invest your time to "educate".

<P>Lol let me put this very simple and blant - noone in EQ2 can match DPS of coercer in HOF... In vaults and BS necros have to push very hard to match my DPS.</P> <P>Coercer is naturally born killer - accept this fact <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

I can't complain about finding groups. It's not any harder or easier as it is with my Dirge oder Templar. It is however hilarious when you are LFG and get tells from people asking if I can heal <span>:smileyvery-happy: That happened more than once ... Anyway ... my advice would be: Don't try to educate people on how to play. Nobody likes you if you constantly tell them how to play. In 99% of all cases mezz only confuses players and slows the group down. Stun is always nice but mezz is too cumbersome. I've read somewhere that even debuffs will break mezz in LU24. Just forget about mezz in groups. It's dead.Another advice would be to use the chat channel appropriate for your level stating what you can do ... "Coercer (Mana + DPS) lvl 53 looking for a group" helps those who don't even know what we can do <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span>

Ok, you just had to go and name the mob that you use to kill in HoF, thanks for the incoming nerf...

I havent used corpse candles too much, but when I have I havent seen a nuke over 2k with it, I understand they were a lot better before.

<DIV>As a general rule of thumb I rarely, if ever, do pickup groups. I prefer to group within my guild, and if that option is not available, I either solo (best xp possible) or tradeskill. The reason I generally stay away from pickup groups is that many times people think I am a healer of some sort, and also I do not enjoy grouping with strangers that I have no idea on if they know how to play the game well or not. It takes so long to get things done in this game, I would rather do it myself than have the possibility of being in a group that keeps wiping over and over. Basically I solod my way up through the levels, and when I was in a group with people, the xp bar moved way too slow to satisfy me. Only the past few weeks of grouping with some people in my guild are others finally starting to realize the benefit of having a Coercer in group. Now if I could just get people to stop with all the AE's when there are 2+ groups of mobs and let me do my job, I would be in heaven. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Orienne</DIV>
I live in perpetual fear of some form of charm nerf. What Tanatus says is right but the moment they take those mobs away from us we go straight to the back of the usefulness line, especially in those zones.
