How do these two classes differ in game play? I find myself forming/leading groups often, and I try and help out the Enchanters by educating the rest about mez, but what differentiates the two classes? Solo and group? I can't tell one from the other (probably like trying to tell a bruiser from a monk - "No, I CAN'T invis us there!")

Redmouser

Bruiser

Here's my quickie version of the differences (without taking into account ancient teaching spells)

Coercer(C) and Illusionist(I) mez and other CC spells are essentially the same.

C- buff dps, I - buff haste

C- have spells that cause the mobs to damage themselves when they cast a spell, connect with a melee hit, or use power.

I- cast spells on allies which will proc extra damage on the mobs they're fighting or cast shields on them that reflect spells back at their attacker.

C- charm mobs to use as pets which can be extremely powerful but also have a chance to break charm and become hostile at any time

I- have illusionary pet(s) which, generally, do less damage than a coercer's pet would but they will never turn on their master

So the majority of the differences will come in the types of buffs they have and how they do most of their damage. The differences in the crowd control are negligible. A coercer's spell may stun while the illusionists version may mez. A coercer's may root while the illusionist stuns. All in all you're still dealing with a combination of stuns, roots, mez's, and stifles.
