<DIV>Hi,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>  I was wondering if anyone has any hints for charming caster mobs that only use instant damage spells (no DoTs)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>  When charm breaks, I will usually mez one mob and AE mez / root the other. On a multi-mob encounter, I will use the AE mez. I notice when fighting certain caster mobs that my pet gets hit with a DoT, which I think will wake him up if I try to charm him on charm break. I haven't run into the problem yet, but I've been thinking about it for if it does happen. My worst case scenario is that my pet casts DoT spells, and the mob he's attacking does the same. When charm breaks, I expect that neither mob will be controllable with mez.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>  If there are just 2 mobs, I guess I could root one and stun the other, waiting for root to come back up. Then after they are both rooted, try to get control of the pet again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>  So, back to my original question. Are there any clues in the name of the mob you are charming that will indicate that it uses DoTs? It seems like just about every class in the game has DoT spells, and I assume that is also the case for mobs. Does anyone have any experience that I could benefit from?</DIV>

If you pet gets a DOT casts upon it, it will not affect the break chance for charm.  You can even DOT a mob then charm it and your dots will tic away on your pet. Your pet casting DOT's is something that you just can't control.  In my experience, melee pets have a much lower chance of using their DOT abilities, but you're asking about casters, in which case I haven't seen any types that reliable cast fewer DOTs than others. As far as control goes after a break, you should use a root to control the mob you and your pet are attacking, and you should save your mez for your pet.  Yes, it's true that your pet could have a DOT on it, in which case use your Perplexity line of stun as you run from your pet.  This stun won't break as you move around, and it will give you enough time to root your pet, for the DOT to wear off, and for you to get things under control again. If I could give you some advice, try not to charm a pet from an encounter you want loot or xp from.  Charm has a bug that, although somewhat rare, will trivialize an encounter if your charm breaks to early or your pet dies.  My 2cp. <div></div>
