<DIV>I am interested in getting feedback in the practical uses (in PvE and PvP) of the Coercer level 15 spell called blink which is supposed to be an AoE hateloss and mini teleport --- which reminds me of EQ1 Shadow Step, and WoW Blink, but with an added memblur.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>PvP - only if fighting a pet class and you've got a pet taunting. You need something to take the hate from you.</P> <P>PvE - this is an emergency hate-loss spell. if soloing, see PvP above. In a group situation, this spell has a chance to divert accidentally pulled hate from you to someone else in your group.</P>
Useless. The detaunt on it is so little that it's a joke.HOWEVER, it is useful against Illusionists who are using spellshield, because of the fast cast and it gets reflected, argh I'm going to lose my next duel against a Coercer now, gah!

I haven't used it since I got Tarton's Wheel. PvE - I seldom use Tarton's Wheel, as I will mostly likely port into another mob and aggro it. To reduce hate, I use the Perplexity line. If that doesn't do the trick, then I've been doing something wrong and gained WAY too much hate. PvP - The ring for PvP makes teleporting a waste of time, IMO. If your opponent can't find you again within the circle before you can get off another spell, then they're bad enough that you shouldn't need to use it to begin with. <div></div>
I'm not sure if this qualifies as a 'practical' use, but it's interesting, at least: If you're ever at the top of a tall cliff, and want to get to the bottom without using the path, you can use Blink. Just draw some aggro from a nearby mob, then mez or root it, move as close as you can to edge of the cliff & ... Blink - about half the time, the short teleport will move you over the edge of the cliff & luckily it won't let you reappear in mid-air, so you wind up safe&sound @ the bottom. If it dosen't work, just wait out the minute re-cast & try again. I've never tried, but I assume you could also use the same thing from the bottom to climb up.... of course, you have to be carful using blink if you're standing near a large cliff in the middle of a fight...... and watch out for aggroed mobs from the top attacking you once they finally find their own way down...

<P>Fast cast and decent recast allow you to use this spell when AOE'ng mobs, will help with controlling your aggro if you pbAoE early.</P> <P> </P>

<P>I use blink a lot to switch aggro from me to by pet if I start the fight with an AOE mez to take a group1 by 1. I also use it in a group sometimes but I've noticed that as time has passed it has become less and less effective in getting aggro off me. Luckily, being a ratonga I have a great de-taunt called Pitiful Plea that seems to scale to my level and currently detauns for like 300 or 700...don't remember but it never fails to get aggro off of me....too bad its got an 1800 second timer...they should really drop the timers on these abilities to make them mean a little more imo. </P> <P>Gnomes I hear get this same trait ability. Given that I say definitely ratonga or gnome for coercer cause aggro with us is insane and only gets worse at higher levels with our reactive abilities in groups doing erratic, unpredictable, burst damage and further reliance on charm when soloing due to poor aggro hold from pets that lack taunts since their normal mobs. I don't even think they HAVE a taunt come to think of it since it doesnt make sense for anything other than charm. :smileysad:</P>

<DIV>I enjoy being an erudite enchanter, while I'm jealous of the gnome/ratonga aggro dropper; Erudites get a vision mode which allows them to see different classes of enemies. Basically: Casters glow blue, Priests glow green, scout/warriors don't glow.</DIV>

Blink can also work as an elevator too. I Blinked on the 2nd floor of Clefts and ended up on the top floor in the middle of a bunch of mobs. That was fun. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>

The only think I've ever found blink to be useful for since the time I first got the spell is that is seems to work semi-reliably to allow me to move again on those occasions (that still happen) when I get stuck in place (ie, not fighting or casting or doing anything in particular other than wandering around or scouting an area) and nothing else works to get me unstuck.
