<DIV>i made an enchanter recently, im now lvl 13.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>my question is rathe simple:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>as a coercer (25+) are there less morons around?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EVERY SINGLE GROUP that i join, i give my speach about not taunting mezzed, no hitting mezz, no taunting adds, etc..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EVERY SINGLE GROUP that i join, they hit the mezzed, they taunt the adds, and then tell me im worthless and kick me out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PERFECT example: joined a group w/ a 15 cleric and 14 warrior.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>we attack a 3x pack of 14 orcs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i mezz 2 of them (before battle i told em which 2 i would mez)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>the other 1 comes for me and starts bashing me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>the warrior then goes over and starts hitting 1 of the mezzed.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>he then taunts the other mezzed</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>by thsi time im in the red and STILL NO HEAL!?!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i get off a Fascinate on the 1 attacking me, and then the untaunted orc that the warrior was attacking ran up to me and killed me (yeah.. never got a heal)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>then they died.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>afterwards i asked why i didnt get a heal, he said he only healed the tank.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i told em they were dumbasses and left the group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>do these situations still occur at 25+ or should i just stop w/ enchanter?</DIV><p>Message Edited by woode on <span class=date_text>03-07-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:42 PM</span>

<DIV>Well think about it this way. Idiots like that will get booted more and more so they don't get a chance to get to high levels. So by that token, yes, there are less idiots at the higher levels. </DIV>

<DIV>Well my friend most of high-end coercers here dont bother to mez at all ... mezing targets reduce DPS of your group so by mezing you decrease performace off group and speed of own exp flow...</DIV> <DIV>And you will keep mezing within single encounter (pack of monsters) - you WILL be kicked out of group and rightfully so</DIV>
<DIV>so whats the point then?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>do poor DPS n give mana regen? :smileymad:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i was hoping for some serious crowd control... *sigh*</DIV>
<DIV>Everyone gets both good and bad groups. Have had my share of both. One of the best groups I was in was doing an AQ6 quest. We were waiting for the named to pop and people were geting used to how everyone played. When the named did po. It was a ^^red with 2 ^red helpers. They went after the MTand everybody, except me did an assists on the MT. While I mezzed the 2 helpers. After the group killed the MT, they went after the first mezed mob then finally the second one. It was the first group I was in were people really new what they were doing. I don't know if the DPS was any faster or not but I do know that the healing was low and the downtime was low too.</DIV>

<DIV>There are most definately times when mezzing is needed, so don't get too disheartened!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Mezzing <EM>within </EM>an encounter isn't necessary unless....</DIV> <DIV> - You may be duoing / trio'ing with a non healing class, like a Conjuror for example</DIV> <DIV></FONT> </DIV> <DIV>- Mezzing is extremely helpful as a 35 Coercer, in these situations....</DIV> <DIV> - Inside of a dungeon, group is fighting a group of 5 mobs already, and you have a 2up Orange ADD (You'll mez in Runneye)</DIV> <DIV> - Group is engaging a named, the named is mezzed while the lesser mobs are picked off first</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For the most part though, it isn't that absolutely essential a majority of the time. It's definately not the EQ1 version of 'Chanter at all. Later on we have a nice DPS, which would be cut considerably short of our potential if we were mezzing within encounters. But like I mentioned, when I duo with a Conjuror, or sometimes trio with a Conjuror and Warden, it is very helpful to mez within encounter.</DIV>

<DIV>Whether or not dps is better than mez depends entirely upon the group makeup. If you have good quantities of AE damage and the healage to help when aggro goes the wrong way, then AE is the way to go. However, if you are fighting multiple AE casters, have little AE damage available among group members, and/or a single healer who has their hands full keeping the MT healthy then mez is the option that will keep the group out of debt! </DIV>

<DIV>yea as a 50 coercer I honestly didn't need to mezz too much 35+.cept in CT...BUT...if you haven't done high end raids yet..I.E the ^^^ mobs in instances and sol eye..just to name a couple..you will NOT win without MEZ...you'll be needed I promise <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You won't have a tank good enough to handle 4 52^^ and 2 52^^^ at once..just a glimpse into your raiding future <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV>that's just a sample of many many raids like that available</DIV>

<DIV>woode playing style for coercer is change in every tier ...</DIV> <DIV>in 20s you ARE the mezer - because if you dont mez AE casters you and your group will be cooked to death by AE casting monsters (RoV)</DIV> <DIV>in 30s you are DPS - with Adept 3 spells you will almost as good as wizard (well use to be as good not anymore after wizards and warlocks got thier rightfull upgrade)</DIV> <DIV>in 40s you are buff-ho - you dont have anymore enouth DPS even to outdamage guardian (lol?), mez aren't need (tanks can withstand easy incoming damage from 2-4 GROUP of monsters) - the only case then you mez then you fight named mob (you mez named), the only thing that groups want from you and reason why group LOVE you is crack spells - Clarity, Mind Eye and Devouring Toughts. Your annoing damenator of course wont make guardian from paladin but ... it do help</DIV>
