<DIV>Howdy everyone. I was thinking of a coercer as an alt. There are only like 13 on my server where there are 40 Illusionists (Kithcor) when I checked.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Worth playing? Con's or benefits? Every class is moderately broken, some more then others. How bad do you all feel it is for you all?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any high level guys feel really inferior to Illusionists, or do you feel equal but different?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks,</DIV> <DIV>Ken</DIV>
<DIV>Being a Coercer, I never have grouped with an Illusionist, so I can't answer the comparison part of your question.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But as far as playing the Coercer, here's my take at level 36. I'm a power battery, stifler, and haste buffer. Not much more. At level 36 my mez is green to me, and works of half or less of the mobs my usual group goes for. Even when I can mez, most situations don't require it, so I've mostly given up on being a mezzer, except in boss encounters. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My power regen is pretty decent, but it's getting nerfed somehow (think it's the power drain/regen spells getting nerfed, my favorite spell). Not sure how the nerf will effect my class till it happens, hopefully it doesn't sting too much.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've been running a couple dps parsers. My dps in groups is about 15 dps, about what the inquisitor I usually group up with does. Solo my dps is about 60 (and this is against greys in the upper 20's).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll be getting charm soon, but at 30 secs, doubt that will make much of a difference in dps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Haste seems good, but I have yet to parse a fighter or scouts dps without it. So I can't really say how much of a difference it makes. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That's it so far. </DIV>

<DIV> Wow, xevan. That makes me not wanna go coercer on my alt. I thought that both subclasses were good at mezzing. Do illusionists get some sort of group power regen as well? Cuz if they do, then that's going to be my choice as a subclass.</DIV>

<DIV>Enchanters are pretty much worthless. They don't fit the vision of balanced locked boring encounters well so they are basically a halfassed wizard. All you do as an enchanter is mana regen, haste, then nuke like a lvl 20 wizard. With the lack of downtime, broken upgrades for buffs, and severe damage discrepencies... I'd say you're better off with a sorceror or conjurer of some sort.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>As a 38 coecer, I can confirm some of the above. In the best group situations I Haste, Regen Power, and Stilfe... and really stifle is the main plus of the class at this time. It keeps mobs from casting adn doing any special moves. Very powerful indeed...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Don't choose this class if you banking on charm. In todays game, it is little more than a toy to play with and not much else. You can do more damage by skipping the charm and chain casting despotic mind (your heard right... our best nuke for a long long time is a lvl 28 spell) 10 levels later, it is still the best spell by far.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mezzing loses value aroudn mid to late 30s. Only mobs worth mezzing are ++ adds and boss mobs while the minons are cleared. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So to suammarize, mezzing aint really worthwhile (though very useful from 10 - 30) in latter levels, charm is just a fluff spell, and your nukes are that of a lvl 20 warlock... i can only dream of hitting for 1000+ damage.. maybe at lvl 50....</DIV>

The only thing that stops them is our stun which only lasts 8secs. And our higher lvl stun is worthless because the casting time is longer than the duration. With all the changes they put in, you'd think they could fix simple [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] like that.</P> <P><BR> </P>

<DIV>Do Coercers still have better power regeneration or was that nerfed also?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's a shame, I picked a Coercer as an alt and was on my way to leveling him but if it's not worth the group utility, then I might delete him or put him on the back-burner until things change, if they change?</DIV>
<DIV>Funndin,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mezzing or Crowd Control is almost pointless in a full group of 6 pc's past level 30. I rarely get a chance to do any worthwhile mezzing/stunning action. Although, the other night I was exploring Feerott with a Guardian and an Inquisitor in my guild (i'm lvl 36, their 3<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. During our trek, I actually succesfully used our AOE mez (rarely is this ever used.) By the end of that encounter, we took on a ^^ plant mob, 2 ^ mobs, and a group of 4. Was like a 20 minute fight, and I felt like a chanter from EQ when we were finished. This however is a rare event, so I still don't consider chanters as crowd controllers still.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As others have said, were basically a power battery, with haste and silence spells thrown in. (and from what others say, the silence spells don't work on raid mobs).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Sadly, anything an enchanter can do, a bard can do and still allows for better dps too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Enchanters need a power up, as it is we are the least desirable grouping class in the game unless its an instance zone or raid.</DIV>
