Hey all, I just got 28th last night. I must say, Despotic Mind is a great spell. I think 27th was one of the toughest levels to this point. We had very little nuking power and our dots were OK at this point. The first time I cast despotic Mind it did 304 damage. This is a nice upgrade from ego shock (or strike, whichever it is).I just wanted to say, any of you coercers who are stuck at 27th and are feeling underpowered. Get 28th and it will help.I do have a question for you higher level coercers.. are there any other levels where we it goes from frustrating to good?(PS, I'm not saying the coercer is a perfect class or anything. It just seems like a lot of coercers get stuck at 27th (Me for instance. Got 70% into 27th, got bored, created an alt, got to 18th with him, started my coercer again and got 28th... through that whole time, only 1 coercer on the server passed me up).

Here I am doing it all over again, but with a totally different subclass. Kind of an interesting reflection showing classes were fundamentally balanced similarly across the board.

On my first enchanter I got really discouraged during the 20's. I think it was mainly because I was expecting each spell that I got to be useful and effective in combat situations, at least in some way. That ultimately set myself up for disappointment however since a lot of the spells really aren't the awe inspiring.Terrible Awe doesn't serve much of a purpose, unveil is annoying and useless, although there have been definate improvements since I first rolled a coercer. Sibyllant is a nice 'burst damage shield', Mesmerize was moved a couple levels lower, Ego Strike was made more powerful, spells like Power of Suggestion and Simple Minds didn't even exist before. In short, if you think enchanters are underpowered in the early 20's now, you should've seen them earlier in the development cycle - god it was awful.

So until you get 38.6 you can't mezz 75% of the stuff you are fighting. Also, im sure alot of classes have this same problem, but im using the same exact spells at 39 that I did at level 30 save buffs and anguish. So my dps is pretty much the same now as it was then. You get a whole lot of crap in the mid/high 30s, much like you did in the low/mid 20s. So in short, enjoy the nice increase in power now, because for the next 10 levels or so, you'll have roughly the same dps as you did at lvl 28. And 35 through 38.6, you can't even cast mezz on anything you fight. You don't upgrade melancholy till 42, Despotic Mind till 42.6, and Muddled Thinking till 43.6. So, 14+ levels casting the same spells, for roughly the same damage. Id like to see any melee class that uses the same weapons at lvl 42 that they did at 28. They would have upgraded 3 or 4 times by then probably. We should be getting twice the upgrades at the VERY least. Im not trying to lower your spirits or anything. I just think that SoE did a real [Removed for Content] poor job of giving spell upgrades to casters when melee types can get a new weapon every couple lvls to upgrade their dps, plus combat arts to boot.I really can't believe that in all the experiance these people have with making games like this, they can make the same mistake twice in two different games. Casters were screwed in the beginning in EQ1 till focus items came out. Let hope they can come up with a similar solution in EQ2, and fast.
Message Edited by Dranlin1978 on 02-05-2005 06:14 AM

You will be able to do a very very slight increase in DMG at level 50 then you do at 31. Most of the stuff you get 31+ is simply to allow you to cast that spell on a higher level mob nothing more..
