<DIV>Been curious about this one for a while. I understand that it's good to havea fast casting root sometimes, but what does reduced vision actually do? What are some specific uses for this spell? The only applications I can think of involve solo'ing or very contrived grouping situations that few would take the time to orchestrate. (other than the afore mentioned need for a quick root, where stupefy would work nearly as well)</DIV>

As an enchanter, no root is going to be of any real use in group situations, because you have mezz... However, blinding light is EXTREMELY good for soloing. Just because of its fast cast time. You can solo pretty much anything within reason with little risk, as long as you stay at max distance. If you solo alot, upgrade it asap.

<DIV>If you get a resist on your mez, and mob charges I find Binding light has a quick cast time, and I prefer this over trying a long stun. Gives you time to get to other side of tank, and mez once its up again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just something else in the bag of tricks, I only use my blink if its more then 1 mob aggroed on me. Once you fight higher lvl mobs it will become useless until you get your upgrade I believe its forced hesitation lvl 36 I believe.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This spell was given to use for mainly solo use, but does have value in group situations also.</DIV>

<DIV>Yeah, awesome alternative when mes fails you or someone whacks your mes and you need to back out fast and hopefully give the tank enough time to get aggro again. Also great for soloing as pointed out above.</DIV>

<DIV>I also use it, on very rare situations when i pull for the group, and there are more than 2 mobs coming in the pull. I'll usually agro by rooting one, then stun or mez another while it's incoming, to leave the others to be killed or cleaned up by me. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But i don't always get to pull for my groups... they tend to get scared when i try to make things interesting for myself by pulling 3-4 dbl up arrow mobs, on top of the group of 3-4 mobs already in camp...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Well if you're trying to wooo that lovely orc for companionship you start out with a mesmerize then follow through with a binding light to blurr her from seeing you're not an orc. Be sure you at least wear a green outfit though. It's a nice mix of slick mesmersizing words with bondage and a play on the lighting, all the orc chics dig it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What? I'm not guessing... really!</DIV>

One would think that if someone's image was blurred, that they would have a difficult time hitting their opponent, although binding light doesn't really seem to lower a mob's accuracy at all. Also, the speed reduction is very miniscule, and you can't really tell how long the snare/blurred vision is effecting your target, due to the lack of a maintained spell icon after the root breaks. The same thing can observed when using a spell from the ego strike line, as you can't monitor how long the root will hold after the initial nuke. For some reason the secondary effect icon for the root was removed at some point between beta and now, as I distinctly remember seeing it during that time.

Between that and the cast time is what makes Blinding light so good. Because not only does it cast super fast, but the snare buys you enough time to get another root on it before it gets to you and beats you to a pulp. This is why coercers can solo white/yellow ^^ mobs with relative ease in the early 30s. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
