<DIV>What exactly is not working with Sibyllant? The damage portion?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I use it all the time to gather thoughtstones, don't really care about the damage myself, I have other spells for that. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>The new mez, and mezmerize are still going to be on the same timer from what I gather.  It's supposed to be an upgrade, a replacement, not an additional spell, however convienent it would be.  I don't think the intention is for us to have more then one mez at any one time.  Due to the level caps, you might be able to get by for a couple levels with two mez's (I know I did with mezmerize and facinate), but once you start fighting monsters that are above facinate's level range it becomes pretty much useless and you're back to one.</DIV>

Not sure why you want thoughtstones. Have you actually found a use for our gimped AoE mez? Not flaming, just curious. If there is a use for it, perhaps you could fill me in? I've cast it over and over, just to make sure that what I heard was really true: attacking one of the mezzed group breaks it on all of them. Sure enough, it's true. In addition, each and every creature in the encounter does a separate roll against the effect. This means you could AoE mez, and only have it stick on one of the mob group...sending anywhere from 1 to 5 highly [Removed for Content] off critters straight after your dress-wearing butt. What happens then? The only thing your tank can do is do a Shout taunt, breaking the effect on the only mob you managed to actually mez <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />The only (very limited) use I've seen for it is for add's. If another group aggro's, you can try the AoE mez to allow your party to try to get away alive. I have yet to see it work, however. There is almost always at least one that resists, usually more than one.<p>Message Edited by Degasai on <span class=date_text>01-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:15 AM</span>

<DIV>I have used the AOE mez spell on occasion. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once to hold a group of added mobs that went straight for me, the tank was off pulling. This gave the tank time to get back and taunt them off me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On another occasion, the tank was almost dead due to constant encounter spawns on us. We had to run off the last group of mobs, they were chasing the tank, so I AOE mezzed them, to give him distance from them (he had almost no HP's or power left). After he had enough running leeway, I ran off too (and not directly behind them either). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't always use the spell, but I hate not having a thoughtstone, when I see a perfect opportunity to use the AOE mez. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>p.s. I have attempted to use it more than these 2 times, but the others haven't been successful. I'm persistent though, and want to keep trying with this, hence I need the thoughtstones.</DIV><p>Message Edited by xevan on <span class=date_text>01-09-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:47 PM</span>

the dmg portion of sibyllant works just fine for me,it goes off when the monster procs it. Also i use the ae mes semi often. When we are fighting mobs say a double up arrow or a whole group of 6 and then another group of 6 pops i lock down the 2nd group for 40seconds. They also lowered the recast timer on it to about 20seconds which isnt as bad but imo there should only be the same as a single mes with its current limitations.

Once you get Despotic Mind youll completely forget about Sibylant. Despotic mind is a 300-ish DD that also can recover a thoughtstone. I hesitate to call Terrible Awe an AOE mez; an AOE mez would be more useful. I call it a group mez, which is what it does. Last time I had a chance to use it the spell duration was well short of the recast time so re-mezzing was out of the question. This made the spell of trivial utility. My frustration with mez is that many spells will break mez not when they are cast on a mob but when it wears off. I have found most roots and stuns and other types of mez's as well will break the mez when it wears off. Sorry but I have to think that's a problem with how its coded, I cant see that being intended.
