Inkant

I was a 50+ Enchanter in EQ1 and I must admit, I enjoyed being vital for mez. I also played on the RZ server where AE Mez was useless because it would hit your group members. So, often I would be begged to join groups, and have a great time keeping multiple adds locked down. However, the Cleric/Tank/Enchanter group dynamic became so prevalent that players began to resent it. Why should the players *need* crowd control? This concern was heavy in the developer's minds when they began EQ2. Hence, mez/CC is not the pinnacle of necessity that it once was. That said, in some ways I feel the developers may have gone a bit too far in trivializing the importance of CC and the power of charm. It is often the case when fixing a problem that the pendulum swings too far in the opposite direction. This is what I believe has happened to enchanters in EQ2. To some extent, it isn't the doomsday scenario some tend to feel it is. I could understand the developer's need to be conservative at first, to avoid having to nerf later on. More CC situations as well as fixes for charm can be added to the game with much less angst than having to nerf CC classes. Thus, I think changes will eventually come, and we're still quite desireable in the mean time. Personally I will continue to send /bug and /feedback so when the devs are ready to take a look at CC needs, they will have plenty of material.Disclaimer: I am a 20ish Coercer and have not experienced Beguile. However, I do enjoy reading everything in this forum and drawing conclusions from the collective experiences of Coercers.
