<DIV>Crowd control in EQ2...what a wonderful concept.  Marvelous in theory, yet almost useless in practice <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Every other class has an AoE attack that they are blindly in love with, it seems.  No matter how many times you tell them "X is mezzed", one or more just MUST throw AoE spells at the entire encounter.  CC goes out the window.  Then, once your mezzed/rooted mobs break free, you might as well start running.  The next thing that starts happening is your MT spamming Shout.  No such thing as crowd control once that starts happening.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One of the "neatest" concepts in the game, Heroic Opportunities, almost always result in an AoE attack when completed successfully.  Once again, CC goes out the window.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The closest I've come to effective crowd control is when a group lets me pull.  At that point, I can actually keep 2 mobs out of the fight until the group is ready for them.  But I have to do it way out from the group to avoid the inevitable AoE's, and I'm going to get scuffed up pretty badly before I bring the rest of the encounter back to the group.  I was hoping the new encounter mez would help, but it breaks on the whole encounter once on of them is attacked.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's turning me into a Breeze and Recklessness ho <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sorry, had to rant about it somewhere <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Level up your warrior and you will be happy.   I dont even group with my Coercer anymore because I refuse to be a breeze [Removed for Content].  When I feel like soloing I bust the coercer out because no class does that better.  </DIV><p>Message Edited by Azmodeus on <span class=date_text>12-30-2004</span> <span class=time_text>10:27 AM</span>

<DIV>Well let me explain you something before you went any deeper...</DIV> <DIV>First and foremost CC in EQ2 mean dealing with adds... and not with linked monsters. Add could be single monster then you should use single target mez or group of monsters then you can use your AE mez. Shout is also have it place and time... If you multiple monsters at camp and about 80% of em deeply [Removed for Content] on you because you are the one person who casted most buffs in the group (believe you or not but mob AI made that way so they come after person who did most buffing) - Shout will clean agro and with single target and AE mez you can do amezing things....</DIV> <DIV>HO is tricky part - most effective and yet hardest to excecute HO starts by mages, advance by priest net result CHeal of group - in long lasted fights it priceless. Scouts may be kings in varieties of HO but mages danm good if you need usefull HO for multiclass</DIV> <DIV>Casting Recklessness-Bravado not hard since it group spell, Breeze somethat annoing untill you get Refresh then its easy - Self/MT/MH - Refresh, rest of group Breeze. If [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] hit fun then MH get both Breeze+Refresh (they stack)</DIV>

<DIV>I do CC with linked encounters, it just depends on the encounter. If there's more than 3, most likely the mobs are weaker and CC isn't needed so much (i mez for damage mitigation in this case if the tank or healer are taking too much damage). Tanatus is correct though, that dealing with adds is a must. From what I've seen, adds usually go straight for the healer, and you have maybe 10 secs to mez the target before the tank grabs aggro on it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as HO's, I have yet to see any full groups use them properly. One group I was in, was getting the HO's to work, but talk about bad timing. Their were 3 mobs, 2 of which needed to be mezzed for damage mitigation but someone kept setting off the AOE HO, lol. I just gave up mezzing and nuked/dotted like crazy. We survived the encounter, but we were rather worn out (low power/HP for alot of us)</DIV>

<DIV>There are definitely times when it's more efficient to burn the mobs down with AEs than to mez stuff.  Just stay flexible and nuke along with the rest of them if it's working for the group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We might not be as efficient dealing damage as our wizardy counterparts, but when you get the orange^^ add, the group is going to LOVE you.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One of the reasons I enjoy my EQ2 coercer over my EQ1 enchanter is that there are many ways that I can contribute to the group.  Damage mitigation is just one of them.</DIV>
