<DIV>Nope, I'm currently doing the part III of my level 20 armor quest which will net me new boots.  I am hoping that part IV is a new robe.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Xonxen</DIV> <DIV>Coercer 21/Scholar 16</DIV> <DIV>Freeport, Befallen</DIV>

<DIV>Somebody made one that is better than that enchanter issued one.  Check out your local crafters...  Not everything falls as loot.</DIV>

<DIV>Yeah, there appears to be a serious imbalance on Very Light Armor drops and quest rewards.  Our guild mages are running round in robes/armor that is gray/green/blue to them when they get into the high teens.  Quests don't reward you with anything worthwhile, and mobs don't drop worthwhile VLA loot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Meanwhile, our tanks, scouts, druids, priests are all running around in Light/Medium/Heavy armor that they've gotten from quests or drops...and all of it cons orange or yellow to them.  Their resistances are all in triple digits (some 200+) just from the armor.  This imbalance becomes crystal clear when you look on the brokers and black market brokers.  Just look at the overall armor situation (VLA vs. the other types).  The good stuff just doesn't exist in the game.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I snuck into Nek forest at 15 and watched some of the L25+ groups hunting and saw that all their mages were still wearing the robe you get at level 10.  I was hugely disappointed.  Their other group members are in plate and really nice stuff, and us mages are left wearing rags that don't help us at all.  At least you can find some *fair* jewelry, and the coercer staff is nice.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Normally, crafters would take up the slack.  However, a level 20 crafter can't make anything that a level 20 player would bother wearing.  Your only hope for good armor is the Armor Quest, parts 1-6.  LOL, our Light Armor and heavier users, at least some of them, are bypassing their AQ because they are finding drops that are better than their AQ rewards.  That certainly isn't an option for mages.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They still have some serious balancing to do with this game.</DIV>

Just wait on the armor. With good enchanter and having decent food and water, equipment begins to become less of an issue for casters. Unless the fight goes seriously bad, we shouldn't be getting hit much. I am 23 ench and still wearing the robe I got for picking my sub-class. Armor 6 robe is mighty nice and we cant wear till 24. Eventually we will need to start seeking out tailors but I imagine that wont happen till around 28-30.

Those we need as much as any class. And while we shouldn't be getting hit as much, without proper armor, 1 hit may be 1 too many.

... Yes I realize that, but up until armor 1 I had the same junk I got from quests around level 10. Being an enchanter I get hit more than most mages, and managed to do fine even in pickup groups and we all know how horrid those can be. While the stat bonuses are nice, and usually help your avoidance, or power, or even success and potency of spells, most mages pre 20 would be better off upgrading their spells with their cash instead of buying armor. More effective roots, or nukes, or even self buffs are what truly benefits mages up until 20./shrug if you want to drop the coin to upgrade the armor go for it, but as it is we really don't need to upgrade much through the teens. At least from personal experience that is.

<DIV>It isnt just stats either..its originality and looking good.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One of the main reasons in EQ to level was to get good looking loot so you looked like a 'higher level' rather than some guy who just got to Freeport.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im not seeing that in EQ2 at all for mages, for the other classes it is...Wheres all those cool robes that we see in all those screemshots? Ive maybe seen 3-5 different robes ive never seen before that were on NPC's.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Seems they are screwing us casters to look like lowbies until we're in our 40's ...</DIV>

I totally agree and am incredibly bummed about the lack of variety for caster robes. I regularly check the broker to see if there are any robes to purchase that are better than what I've got (the lvl 10 robe) and never find a thing, while there are pages and pages of medium/heavy armor.I've actually only seen one robe that looks nice (the Liandras one, no idea where to find it)... and only 2 other varieties besides (the lvl 10 robe and the crafted UGLY striped ribe)This is definitely something that should be addressed.anyone have any info/screenshots/stats on the AC quest robe?

<DIV>The quest robe has great stats and looks pretty cool. Its black and red with a metal trim that reflects light, nice effect on high quality settings. Also the new Oracle robe is about the same stats wise and looks freaking AWESOME. Its BLue with gold scrollwork and black pants / trim. It really looks good and I wear it over my quest robe simply for the graphic.</DIV>

<DIV>There's a quest in the Ruins of Varsoon to get a nice robe, relatively easy too. Just select some silk and talk to someone in Qeynos, and you have a nice robe! However, the Armor Quest robe is better. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Okogia - 27 Coercer, Butcherblock</DIV>

Devil69438, I don't know if you were around for the first six months of EQlive or not, but there was not an abundance of cool robes for casters then either. It wasn't uncommon to see casters in apprentice (starting robe) well into their 20's and beyond. Flowing black robes didn't start getting seen for months and even then were a very rare sighting.Just for a perspective of then vs. now. I am not saying that very light armor is fine the way it is, but there are some areas of the game the are very unpolished and need some work. So I agree with you there, but I do recall worse times.-K

<DIV>Aye..you would just think they would learn from their mistakes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically every class type in the game gets to look forward to upgrading to new cooler looking armor at 20 or getting some new shapeshifting stuff to look cool(Druids)...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mages are the only ones stuck with 1 type of armor their entire lives, and it is the least fleshed out armor type by far.  Goto the broker some time and look at how many crafters and people are selling plate, chain and leather armors as well as weapons compared to the number of cloth armors and staffs and its very depressing <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>That's pretty much just supply & demand working in action <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is more demand for the light & medium armors because more classess/subclasses can use them.  The heavy & very light armors are only useable by one profession each. (I think heavy can only be used by fighters).  So just like in every mmorpg, even digital life is subject to the laws of economics! </DIV>

<DIV>I found a decent robe for my coercer on a quest in Thundering Steps,  can't for the life of me remember the name of the quest,  but we had to find a cove there (instance zone for group or 3 to 6)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ruckus Blouse</DIV> <DIV>+3 agi  +5str  +13 health  +15 power</DIV> <DIV>+80 vs disease   +100 vs magic</DIV> <DIV>AC 66 at lvl 25, (72 at 27)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So thats what I wear while I work on her Armor quest, which ATM I have just completed part 4.</DIV>
