<DIV>I'm pointing up my AA's for my fledgling Illusionist and I'm a little confused as to the description of Chronomotion.  Does it reduce the recovery time (the 'downtime' after a spell cast where you can't do anything) or recast time (the time before you can cast the spell again)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My guess is that it reduces recovery time, yet I want to know for certain.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance.</DIV>

it reduces recovery.... time in between casting one spell finishes and you can start casting another (usually 0.5s)

<DIV>That is what I had thought... thanks for the confirmation!  Now I know to leave it at 4 points instead of maxing it out at 8.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In hindsight, it would have been a tad bit overpowering if it reduced recast time... just imagine...</DIV>

<DIV>What I was wondering is how much the defense helps. Im comming from a pvp perspective, and really don't know if I wana go 4 or 8 points. I do a fair ammount solo.</DIV>

Defense helps, yet not that much.  I don't have the formula down with the new diminishing returns on abilities (AKA: the higher you raise a skill, the less you get from each point of increase), Yet I'm guessing you'll get about .5% to .7% avoidance for each point of defense.  As a cloth wearer, if you get in melee range with a DPS class (and they aren't mezed, stunned, or stifled)... your pretty much dead.   I would concentrate more on putting 8 points into the resists on the Wisdom line. (3rd down on the tier I believe)  At level 70 it gives around 80 to all your resists for each point, making that over 600 to resist all, which in my opinion is better than a few % of avoidance.

<DIV>I hadnt really looked at the wisdom line, so Ill investigate. I was thinking full chronomancer (where I am now) and some intell for crit and spell barrier. Defense can buy the few seconds I need to mez and get ranged tho.</DIV>

<DIV>I'd have to say that the Wisdom line might be the most important in reguards to PvP.  As I mentioned in my post above, the extra resists are very nice... yet more important than that is the 4th ability in the Wisdom line.  It increases Focus and Subjuagation.  (I believe 4.4 per point at level 70... currently 2 points at level 26)  As stated by the developers themselves, with the new expansion resist rates are minimized more by your spell casting skill than by spell level.  So it is now important to get your Subugation and Disruption skill up above your current max.  (again, I don't know the forumla on this so I don't know how high you would want to raise it to make the best use of reduced resist rates)  Plus Focus helps in not getting interrupted.</DIV>

BIG MISTAKE.</P> <P>While I do love the AGI for the increased casting speed and have definately noticed that mobs miss me now a bit more than before, I just cannot stomach the loss of the WIS line of attributes.</P> <P>Before the respec, I could count on one hand the number of resists that I'd get when casting subjugation based spells. After the respec, the amount of resists to mezzes, roots, and stuns was just sickening. In one gaming session, I probably died 4 or 5 times from resisted mezzes alone - something that would never happen under the WIS AA tree. One particular mob that have endlessly farmed in the past, killed me twice last night after multiple resists to mez and stun. As an illusionist, subjugation resists are unacceptable.</P> <P>Also, before the respec, I would never lose focus while casting a spell. I never even knew about the auto-recast thing that was added when mobs interrupt you since I was never interrupted. That added +focus really spoiled me.</P> <P>Lastly, I'm getting hit by a lot more spells than before. I got so used to resisting 80% of spells cast against me that I wouldn't even bother to silence caster mobs.</P> <P>My next 16 AA points will ge back into the WIS line as soon as I get them. PvP or PvE, that line just makes your life as an illusionist so much nicer.<BR></P>

<DIV>Momentary sentiment and the Mezz upgrades in the Illu AA tree should be way more than enough to make the wis line completely unneccesary for mezzing.</DIV>
