I have been reading about the LU24 changes, but I'm new and don't understand.

The changes seem targeted at crowd control effects on every spell in every class. Basically, they seem to be saying that crowd control should be weakened. But it seems to me that illusionists depend on crowd control more than any other class. It sort of defines the illusionist class. So the net effect of these changes would be to re-define the illusionist class. What are we supposed to be now?

I understand the need to tweak the system, but why make major changes like this to the core skills of a class? The classes in EQ2 were bland to start with, so if you nerf the few core strengths, then what's left?

<fictious>

How about reducing the effectiveness of armor? Everyone wears armor, but it's the bread-and-butter for Fighters, so if they nerfed all Mitigation, then all armor could equally suck, not just cloth armor. That would make armor more "balanced"!

</fictious>

my take on it:

A lot of classes have stuns, and with a good group without an enchanter u can keep a mob permastunned- stiffled- and helpless and beat the crap out of it.

So rather than upping the mob's HPs or resists, or making the mobs harder which would affect soloers and every one else.

They weakened most of the control elements meaning a few more tactics will be used and it may lead to greater variety in fights.

They also have cleaned up the names, and definitions of the all the control spells making them standard, stuns can't be broken, mez's can etc.

So they have cleaned up and simplified the system, and weakened it a bit for non chanters, rather than upping the mobs.

AS for the changed which directly affect the enchanters i am not so sure on my chanter is lv 28 so i a no expert yet.

I think it will do the game good and i trust their vision over all.

As for bland classes the classes are fairly varied in my opinion even the opposite factions of the same class are pretty different, and over all they are fairly well balanced.

All classes will still be able to solo, those who could before will still be able to weaken. control a mob but to a lesser extent.

As for people throwing around the nerf word there is a lot of panic and hysteria on the forums, this is smalll change for 22 of the clases, as most only have 1 or 2 stuns out of 20 + spells / combat arts.

take what you read on the forums which a pinch of salt people get very excited on here

Message Edited by Purgle on 06-14-2006 05:34 AM

Message Edited by Purgle on 06-14-2006 05:34 AM

Message Edited by Purgle on 06-14-2006 05:35 AM
I think the change is to dampen the CC abilities of other classes, making the Illusionist and Coercer more useful to groups (rather than perma stunning).It did hit the Warlock really hard from what Ive gathered. Stunning DD is a huge deal for them, since they use AE damage, now you will have a group bum rushing them in a second. I dont see tanks stopping this. Im not high enough level to know, but I think this will bother Warlocks alot once they see the results.Mal

The change hurts us more thanh anyone go roll one on test. Basically a 33% decrease in cc abilities think about soloing now as an illusionist!!

Fiz
