<DIV>Hello all. I have a main that is a 65 monk that i am kinda sick of playing. After trying all the classes to about level 10 the illusionist kinda seemed the most fun to play to me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a question though. I have about 10 friends i play with almost all the time. THese friends play tanks and healers mostly. They usually loved my monk coming along becuase i was sort of the dps in the groups of our duos or small groups. What im wondering is will the illusionist fill this gap of dps to a decent degree as well as provide better utility for our small groups?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also i've never really played an enchanter before but i did play a necro in eq1. Im noticing so far the root rot method works with this class to some degree ........ any other helpful hints on soloing so i can catch back up with friends .........</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>thanx in advance.</DIV>

Decent dps, sure. I would say not quite as good as a dpsing monk single-target, but better in encounter-wide AE once you get Color Shower at level 50. If you are in small groups (say 4 or less) a lot, then mezzing, stunning, and stifling can be very nice, and allow you to take on more difficult stuff than you'd be able to otherwise. Many illusionists find these type of groups to be the most fun, since our crowd-control abilities come to the forefront. (It's full groups and raids where this usually is not the case, although that might change soon.)If you're going to be soloing a lot, good adept3 spells would be the pet, the 1sec nuke, the mental debuffing dot, the construct (dumbfire pet) line, the prismatic shock line, and color shower.Once the pet gets root, it will allow you to pretty much go all out on damage, while your pet keeps it rooted. You may need to stun/stifle the mob in order to keep your pet from dying. In extreme circumstances, you might need to "pulse" your pet with the attack/back off buttons, in order to make him cast, but not go into melee range. One thing to consider is convincing your friends to mentor you for the AAxp, if they don't want to make alts with you. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
