We get 2 abilties which count as AE. One is not a true AE but is our main ae mez. It actually only mezzes the ENCOUNTER. Our other is the one they recently changed to a true ae that reduces agro and mezzes everything around you for 6 seconds which is a ture AE since you don't have to target anything for it to work.

as far as the out of encounter AE/de-aggro, are you referring to the STA line in the AA system? i have yet to sink 8 points into that, so im not completely sure what it does, and whether its gonna be useful...the way i read it is that its like a healer's "pacify" but on the encounter...where it makes the encounter unaware of any fighting around it, making social aggro impossible...is this not the case?<div></div>

Was talking about barrier of intellect. They changed it so it does an ae mez and decreases our threat.

<DIV>As Barobrain says, we have an encounter locked AE Mezz.  This was recently (3 or 4 LUs ago) changed to affect at most 4 targets though, so if your target encounter has more than 4 mobs in, some will not be mezzed...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>And of course, if you happen to end up with more encounters than the encounter limit beating on your group, our CC is pretty well broken due to 'cannot engage target' issues.</P> <P>Pretty silly, since in many KOS locations a single pull can cause this to happen.</P>

<P>"Was talking about barrier of intellect. They changed it so it does an ae mez and decreases our threat.  "</P> <P>I think I would have much preferred to have it the old way for pvp--an insta cast shield on yourself that stuns w/e hits you and lasts for 30s, right?  Is it still insta-cast at least?  If so, I'd at least semi-enjoy it just for the hate debuff effect.</P> <P>I should have it very soon, but I'm I'd be more looking-forward to it if I had something like the coercer's lvl 40 pb aoe fear or really just anything that's on a different immunity timer than my main cc.  Mez is good, but I don't need this many of them.</P>

From PVE I do not agree. I like it the way they changed it. But that is just my opinion.

Yah, from a PvE standpoint I find that the change is great on Barrier of Intellect, specially for a certain raid encounter.

^^ so you find the change to Barrier of Intellect great, but at the same time think that the mystic skill (with double duration of BoI) is crap? what i am missing here?

Ya I remember someone bringing up that mystic mez before asking why mystics get a better mez then enchanters. Yet Calaglin is totally right.....5 min recast FTL. All though not bad to save you every once in a while. Good luck mezzing them after the duration ends though.<p>Message Edited by Barobrain on <span class=date_text>05-08-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:07 AM</span>

The point is that all of the illusionists signature spells have crossed over to one degree or another to other classes.  Classes that have better armor, classes that have better dps, and classes that can heal.  None of this leakage has come back the other way.  And I mean None with a capital N.

That is just my opinion. The skill they get is not really that great at all.
