As an illusionist, I have been using the AGI line for perpetuality. Because of the upcoming change, I was wondering if the other lines are better for illusionists to help in raids?

So, which is better? WIS or AGI?

Spell casting haste is prob the most (only) useful AA for chanters, although u need to sacrifice ur secondary item.

Reduced agro sounds like a nice 2nd choice however the way that AA is implemented makes it pretty much insignificant - if at all useful.

The other 3 lines r quite fun to read - and nothing else.

There are enough resist gear in game for a raider to easily max out all ur resists. So, unless an illusionist want a 12s charm, or the chance to increase dps when pwr is less then 25%, or make shadow puppets at mobs so they laugh themselves to death... Our AA's r like our utility - they need a lot of work.

I took the STA line (group de-aggro and healing crits) to 4/4/4/4/0. Here's my reasoning:In a raid, any de-aggro is useful. A roughly 4% group de-aggro, along with a roughly 1,000 point de-aggro every 30 seconds on one person makes a noticeable difference. The 8% chance of group crit heals is also helpful. While it's not good enough to replace the troubador or coercer in the MT group (their aggro management is so much better), it does mean I get assigned a spot in the raid (instead of being flung in a random group).I'm still so-so with the AGI line. I've worked out some improved spell orders, but I've found I need an extra hotbar in long (raid, and some named heroic) combats... I use it to store my low-power, fast-casting, no-damage spells just to get a chance to proc Synergism. Heck, I can already drop every single damage spell faster than the recast timers will refresh in a really long fight. Spell cast timer increases just increases the amount of time I'm waiting for recast timers.Sadari70 IllusionistMistmoore

i have recently switched to the STA line (4-4-8-8-0) and am very curious how the grp de-aggro will stack with the dirge song that transfers hate. if im decreasing aggro, would it screw up the amount that is being transfered to the MT? and the crit heals are amazing, i get stuck with the grp that has the most healers, if your healers pick their crit heal/reduced cast lines, they crit heal a crap ton now, i like that utility. im debating about what other line to go now, i was thinking INT for the 2nd to last ability, the crit hit line....ideas?

As for how it would affect Swashbuckler, Assassin, and Paladin abilities that do transfer hate, the theory is that those are based on normal hate without de-aggros and all that, so it wouldn't really change anything there.

It is a tough question to answer without knowing everything there is to know about you.

I mean, most telling would be your raid setup? Is it tank and healer heavy, light to semi-light dps? If so, then you damage is worth more than if you are full dps. So I would lean towards the int line for (1) the crits and (2) lighter dps means longer fights which means your below 25% power bonus comes into play. Or is your raid mainly a dps raid? If that is the case, then improving your dps from 700 to 900 means very little in the scheme of things. It also means you have a bit fewer healers and crit heals is kind of nice. And, if you are pumping out good raid dps, the aggro reduction is worth more and more.

Also, I suppose it depends on what type of person you are. For example, I am a simplifier. Everything I do, I try to make as simple as possible. I keep a primary set of gear and maybe two or three extra pieces for resistances...maybe. That means the 800 extra resistance I can get to each stat is important: I simply do not want to lug around extra situational sets. If you are not that type of person and do not mind carrying extra gear, than the 800 resistance would be wasted (relatively speaking, of course). Not so much of a raid issue (yet, I hope), I am also the kind of person who gets frustrated when things do not work as I feel they should. So, spells resists (especially on my key spells) frustrate the living heck out of me. By the time I even notice a resist, that portion of the fight is already out of my head. That means, while most people scoff at our +5 subjugation box, I embrace it.

Anyway, I guess all I mean is that there is no one way to determine best in this sense. There are lots of factors you can think about and lean towards. All I really can say for advice is that I like doing the things I do and AA's give you the chance to do those things better. Which things you want to do better is left up to you. I personally like the utility things that will never show up quantifiably. I took the stamina line 4/4/8/8 and the wisdom line 5/4/8/8. I really gained nothing new: no charm, no pacify; and I am pretty happy with the raid dps so steered clear of those increasers.

Queue
