<div></div><div>I see a lot of Illusionist posting about this spell and don't seem to under stand it I also notes that Illusionist don't seem to be using it as much as they should be. So I'm going ot explain How it works why it dose a mem wipe (witch is needed) and when to use the spell.</div><div> </div><div>Here is a example of the best time for the spell and what It was intended for:</div><div> </div><div>Your in a group fighting a Named (or a normal/hard mob).</div><div>Your tank dies!  As soon as you seem him die you cast your <strong>Illusionary Allies.</strong>They take 100% of the Argo, at this time the healers Rez the tank heal the tank and all thou low power he is back up and ready before the <strong>Illusionary Allies </strong>drops.</div><div> </div><div>Now your probably saying "What about the mem wipe?" well this is why there is a mem wipe.</div><div>When the tank dies he goes from Top of the Argo list to not even on it. So that means the Healers/DPS get all moved up one place</div><div>if the <strong>Illusionary Allies </strong>didn't do a mem wipe then when the tank was rezed he would have to work all the way back up the Argo list taunting and stuff like mad and seeing as he just died he doesn't have power for that, so by wiping the mobs argo he only needs to through 1 taunt and poof he has argo just like he just pulled it! And the group lives! if your worried or your healers are a bit slow Root the mob or even mez it (if everyone backs off).</div><div> </div><div>Now there are other times you can use the spell...</div><div>for instance you are fighting and you get a add but (like always) everyone is nukeing it or it's doted. Well <strong>Illusionary Allies </strong>is can be used as a 15sec thing to get the mob off people till the dot is gone or till the mob that the tank is fighting is dead or to keep the mob from hitting people, after mem wipe Root/Mez (same as always) it came at you with no argo on the tank and will be that way after mem wipe.</div><div> </div><div>There are more ways to use this spell and fun stuff to but the 2 main reasons I just listed is what I assume SOE wanted us to use it for. So now you know, the spell is not broken the mem wipe IS a good thing and yes this is the way it was made to work.</div><div> </div><p>Message Edited by HypnosEQ on <span class="date_text">03-22-2006</span><span class="time_text">12:27 PM</span></p>

I think we may have different definitions of "broken." For reference,<img src="http://www.physics.uc.edu/~pinskie/spells/Illusory%20Allies.JPG">My problem with the spell is that every time I cast it, the allies immediately take aggro, but because the memwipe doesn't occur until termination (15 seconds) AND they have negligible health, they are immediately killed and the mob goes back to what it was attacking prior to cast. It's a nice spell in theory, but I've <b>never</b> had it work in a useful fashion, therefore I consider the mechanics of the spell "broken."

<div>I personally have never seen all of them killed before the memwhipe could occur. What were you fighting that killed them quickly?</div>

I've seen all of them killed almost instantly many times but mainly if it is a very tough named mob or if the mob has a hard hitting AE spell.  I've also seen where they take the agro one of the healers gets it for a second then they get it back.  It can be a very useful situational spell, I've used it on Sunchild when the tanks have already used up their Rescues and ive used it a few times if the tank is almost ready to die so the healers have time to get him back up in health a semi-stun.  If the mob is almost dead and your tank dies it gives the dps an extra few seconds to burn it down.  It works great in a few circumstances, you just have to be careful when you use it.  I had to remind another illusionist exactly what the spell did on a raid once because he was using it almost every pull.  Typically if I use it on raid or tough named I'll run up closer to the MT when I use it, if those illusions die before the memwipe I get the immediate agro and it gives the MT an easier ability to pick it up from me either before or after I die.  Be sure your MT knows when/if you intend to use it, it never fails I use it just about the same time the MT drops rescue on a mob to get it back.<div></div>

<div>They have around 11000 to 12000 HP each with no mitigation.  They can take a hefty beating before they die.  They are just fine the way they are.  In fact, I barely ever see them get destroyed, except by mobs with AEs that destroy people.  In fact, if they didn't take aggro the mem wipe before they went into place would be idiotic, and would only serve to get US killed.  When those mobs die, WE gain the aggro.  Without the mem wipe, we are going to die.  At least, that's my experience with it.</div>

<div>I have a Master 1 in "Illusionary Allies" I have seen them all get hit with a 4000 AE and only go down to 60% health. I have never had a Named (not talking Raid mob) kill them all.</div>

I occasionally see them die before the 15 seconds goes off, against raid critters.  Furthermore, I also have, at least twice in the past month, gotten aggro whilw some of them are still alive (once against some unpronouncable thing in Gates, and once against the Black Queen.Just looking at the spell -- it's possible that the memory wipe is only tied to one pet in particular.  I've noticed that the "limited pet" with the memwipe under it changes from time to time in the spell description.<div></div>

<div></div><p>I've had the same problem as fiz regarding getting agro while the spell is still active.</p><p> </p><p>i've also once had the spell be of use in a raid situation. tank died, i cast IA + macro (got a macro set up telling people waht to do), tank was up, buffed and taunting before they ran out.. or all died.</p><p>they definatly die quick on raid mobs, certainly named, seems quite random though on if its going to work as you'd expect or not. sometimes they hold agro, it wipes, people had backed off so stayed low o the hate list and it all recovers fine. other times they half die, i die, then th raid gets comped as usual.</p><p> </p><p>can't say i ever use it, unless im grouped and seporated to save my curious stupid self from some agro.</p>

<div>My regular group doesnt even like me casting it.</div><div> </div><div>So I end up using it as a 3rd pet while soloing.</div>
