I dislike the appearance that my Erudite looks like in game. Even tho I chose a different colored skin, I end up looking black as a chalkboard and do not see my head glyph. And somewhat my nose and chin looking so pointy, like cyrano(sp)?

When I use any humanoid illusions given to me, I still end up looking black and bald.

Anyone have any ideas on how to vary your appearance rather than look like a broken character?

If you created your character early enough, you might have the one-time option of changing your appearance. If you do, it'll be available on the character-select screen. It'll say something like "Set Apperance" and there'll be a "Set SOGA Appearance" button next to it. This was given a while back though, and I dont think characters created after the appearance-resets were given, will have this option.

^ ^ ^ what he said. they only way to alter your appearance after creation would be if you had an option button for setting appearance on your character select screen up. It was promised there would come a quest in game that would offer you to change your appearance later on, but its not been put in yet.

in case you have the option available to change your appearance, here are some hints.

erudites are a very chellanging race when it comes to create an appealing outlook.

when creating a new character i usually start out with using the random generator till i get a lucky roll with a facial expression that i like. i then will only correct some minor parameter and adjust skin/eye color and hairstyle.

erudites skin color can be set to very light color, almost white if i remember correct. click exactly into the center of the color palette for it. the further away from the center you are picking a color the darker it is.

for your glyphes and how much they are visible there are 2 things that effect this. one is the color of your glyphes. glyph color is tied to eye color. pick one that is in high contrast to your skin color to get good visible ones. blue glyphes on blue skin wont show much for example, while bright yellow glyphes on blue skin should be shown very fine. the other thing you have to consider is your general grafic settings. there is a parameter in your options that will disable glyphes to be shown in general. (forgot which one though).

erudite nose always will look a bit pointy and skinny. but not so their chin, this is pure settings. you can play around with wide-narrow and long-short (think these are the two which effect it) in different combinations till you get a satisfactory result.

being bald even when using illusions...well, nothing to help you with here. this is the curse of being an erudite.

you have SOGA graphics turned on. Under SOGA graphics, all illusions cast on yourself makes you look Black and Bald.If you turn off the SOGA, you looks white and have hair and differing features.
