Time for some bad english last month of Eq2 subscription running out.I guess all good things come to a end eventually, ill like to keep my good memories from Everquest 1.I liked the open gameplay mechanics Everquest 1 (have/had), Eq2 sure have some improvmentscomapred to Eq1 but those improvments does not make the game or what you call it.The classes and races in Eq2 is so waterd down and dumbified that the characther buildup processis very boring and unexciting, that with the restrictions on gameplay compared to Eq1 makes this even moreboring and the gear/items/weapon in the game could certainly have more (soul) but i guess the items aregetting better. While many zones are fine looking they just lack attention to detail and the way they have placedmonsters on the map (just dropping a bunch om em down from the sky) put 5 orcs standing still on that hill soplayers can kill them, monsters need to be placed at spots which they seem to have a purpose to be at.Eq2 must have one of the worst monster placements i have ever seen. You cant just have good graphicsyou have everything together in a logical way that makes sense also.As allways many people wont agree with this and thats fine if this game is your cup of tea then im glad for you.Personally i wonder if there ever will be a Everquest 3 since this game has not reached the heights SOE proboblyexpected from it. Its gonna get nasty for this game when Vanguard hits the stores. If you consider all redesign they have done to this game compared to how it was at launch you cant really say anything else then failure..... they failed bigtime with their design goals but all the changes they have made is far from enough, the design of this game must be one of the biggest money investment project failures ever...This makes me sad since the chance of Eq3 is probobly slim now... they have basicly ruined the Everquest trademark name.I think the biggest problem is that they wanted to have 2 different fantasy mmorpgs Eq1 and Eq2 to complement each other.Instead of making 2 fantasy games they should take the best from Eq1 and the best of new tech and design but they wanted to have to 2 games because they thought they would earn them more money. I think this backfired totally, just to give you a example i had 10 ri friends playing Eq1 with me for over 4 years and know none plays Eq1 or Eq2 and everyone high hopes on vanguard as we hope that it will be the (real) followup to Eq1.I guess this post ended up being a rant/flame post after all hehe so if you feel like smiting me be my guest, im expetcing it.Waiting for DDO, Vanguard or even that lord of the rings mmo, non of em can miss the target as much as this game have. In the end i and my rl friends didnt want this everend to the everquest mmo...Bottom Line:I just cant help feeling that the people who made Everquest 1 and some of its expansion where hardcore fantasy fans with a good understand on how a fantasy setting should be. Everquest 2 feels like a commerical company product that have no clue about fantasy and are only in for because of the money and thats why EQ2 lacks soul......Some strange text formating when i pasted this in, trying to fix it./Cazrack
Message Edited by Cazrack on 02-12-200605:24 AM

Message Edited by Cazrack on 02-12-200605:29 AM

Message Edited by Cazrack on 02-12-200605:32 AM

Agreeing with the original poster.EQ 2 is way too watered down. A gazzilion classes doing basically the same thing. Whats the point??Things went wrong under construction...terribly wrong. The game lacks charm and its totally 'soul-less'. I feel like Im playing a fantasy game made by people that totally hates everything fantasy...but they get paid to do it...so they stick to the company. The 'emergency repairs' being made to the game will not save it...a complete revamp on classes and character buildup probably wont save it either. What could, and _should_ have been a the MMORPG flagship, isnt much more than a small leaking wooden rowingboat..without any oars. The original design shines through.Even now, after 1+ years, the game feels 'rushed'..as it probably is/was. No 'love', no 'soul'.Fancy graphics cant save this game...or any game for that matter, not if whats behind the paint is rotten to the core.49 Guardian48 Necromancer43 ConjurerRunnyeye server..Over and out...

I wrote a post about 8 months ago and got flamed for it.What I was saying was that this game was missing something. Something along the line that there is little punishment for your failures and little reward for your successes. I just feel like someone is holding my hand in this game telling me which way to go, and I want it to be free and wide open. I know you can argue those points, I am just stating how the game makes me feel.I am going to try PvP until Vanguard comes out. Not with an Illusionist though. THinking going Conjuor ( yeah yeah, my luck it will be nerfed to shreds)

I just thought I should troll or inform/report some depending on what side you are on.Gotta do something with my last month sub so here it goes..To develop what former EverQuest designer and current Sigil CEO Brad McQuaid describes as "the spiritual successor to EverQuest."http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/vanguard/news.html?sid=6144313/Cazrack

This post resonates with me. In the few months that I've been playing I've moved from my initial expectation that EQ2 would be the latest defining MMORPG to no longer seeing EQ2 as an RPG at all. It's more like a virtual amusement park for people who enjoy fantasy based RPGs. I think that's the same idea.

I am wary of htier description.

Something about lock down one mob and be stunned. Not alot of fun based on current info.

Truely though, Vanguard is already over sold based on the info available. The PROMISE of Vanguard is what people are hyped on. Vanguard is only and empty box atm with precious little hard infor to back it up.

I remember all the hype that EQ2 was getting. I was in a guild a year before launch. We critisized the WoW people, and talked up EQ2. There are still two games that I really loved to play, those were old school UO and DAoC. I wasnt even that big in EQ1. Anyway, my point is, everything is hype, Vanguard, EQ2, whatever, until you actually get a chance and see if it's fun for you.

I agree with Sugo1, Until you actually get to play a game its nothing but hype. Heck until I got to play DDO I thought it was the second coming :smileyvery-happy:, and now well its far from that.
