I can't really seem to find the real difference between these 2 classes. It seems like ill's are so much better due to having the pets, ae stuns, and combat speed on an ally. I'm interested in one of these 2 classes for the pvp server due to the cc and stuff. what is better? I'm probably going to be doing alot of duoing maybe a ranger/illusionist or something, not really sure. just wondering what would be best for pvp.

Purly based on the fact that Illusionist can cast mez while on the run. I'd have to say Illusionists gonna be a little better on PvP.

while illu can mez on the run, coercer can mez while stunned and stifled, which can be extremly helpful as well.

both enchanter classes do fairly good in pvp.

their tactics differs. illu in general are a bit more defensive oriented, while coercer are more "mean" :smileywink: they take a bit more risk for themselves but can also do more harm to their opponents. e.g. illu get a permanent pet with moderate strength, while coercer can temporary charm very powerful pets but with the risk that charm breaks at a bad moment.

illu have to do all dmg themselves with (weak) nukes and dots or rely on their allies to do it for them, while coercer can put reactive procs on the opponents which will do dmg everytime the enemy tries to attack.

so the difference is maybe more a roleplaying question and also what starting city you prefer. coercer are really evil and mean, while illu are good and soft and love rainbows. both can kick [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] in pvp.

I think on a pvp server I'd much rather have a constant pet than one I have to charm.

Yeah, now that I think about it, our pet might not be so useful in PVP. I guess the stuns and stifles might help a little, but nothing like a charmed caster, that is true.

Our regular single-target 40ish second mez is "uninterruptable" which means it can be cast while moving. I think the first one would be Entrance at level 20.Coercers' single-target mez can be cast while they are stunned or stifled (or mezzed).
Message Edited by Impetus on 01-31-200602:00 PM

just a FYI, if they go the route of EQ1 Mez and Charm will be inaffective on other players in the near future. which is very lame but they did it in EQ1 i dont see any reason why they wont do it in EQ2.

I am also interested in making one or the other, though not really for PvP, could any of you tell me the difference between them aside from their mezzes? Does one class get more mezzes than the other? What do each class specialize in from the enchanter class? Which would you prefer in a group?

Could someone tell me what Illusion spells each have.. On self and group. the other day my whole group was turned in to male humans. kinda spiffy.

I realy like both classes suddenly and both for diffrent reasons. seems ILL is more reliable but coercer can be a times awsome. Befriend in PVP would be helarious. turning team on team. even if for sec is fun.

And last do Illusion spells work when on pvp servers to avoid the baddies. i know its very early to know but if i was to change in to say a DE and walk over to the dark peeps will they see me as red and good?

would be fun

Lakin

there is a spell list sticky on the top of the page. go look it up our illusion spells there.

group illusions will turn the whole group into the gender of the caster.

illusion spells dont work in any way for faction. not in pve and not in pvp.
