View Full Version : So, is there going to be any improvements?
I quit playing a while ago for several reasons, but the major one was that SOE just didnt get it for Illusionists. Matter of fact, I think they didnt get it for many classes. I just spent 20 minutes reading the boards because.... well I was bored. Anyway, nothing I have read seams to suggest any fixes of anything. Did I just need read far enough back?

Essentially Illusionists are weak versions of a Conjurer.

They have given them a weak permanent pet and a temporary pet, both like conjurers just weaker versions. Yes they continue the mez but conjurers have very powerful stuns. Mez continues to be "nice" but pretty much take any other class to group with other than chanter if you can.

Several times SOE has been bombarded with posts begging for a larger overall fix to the Chanters.. one that had vision and creativity. Several people gave some really creative and practical (from a implementation standpoint) ideas for spells to revamp the class, with very good concepts for a class vision. Many of these would have created a unique, dynamic, deep, visually impressive, and fun class to play. But, SOE seems to have taken the will just wait them out approach and leave the class alone. I think mostly because they don't know how to fix them... probably figure they are just fine. Oh I bet they add a bit more to the class DPS.. thinking again that this is the real problem when it's a lack of class vision that's the problem.

Oh but they do continue to provide crowd control in a game where it has no where near the importance that it did in EQ1 and a good healer, or DPS class, would make a far greater difference to the group.

So for now they remain a weak version of a conjurer. (go make the real thing not a cheap copy)

Sorry, but our stuns leave the conjurors in the dust. Sap Will gives me enough time to grab a coke, and Stunning Array is AE. If you happen to have the pet going off...well time it right and the stunning can be something like 75%.Conjs have an AE with one interrupt (ours has 2), and an AE that stifles (for a shorter duration than color shower), and one stun that does damage but is shorter than ours. Are conjurors overpowered? Maybe. Are they just superpowered illusionists? Hardly. There are plenty of places CC is useful situationally, and mana regen is useful everywhere. If you're already at 60 and in Fabled, ok, then you might have a hard time finding challenging non-raid content. But otherwise...find a tank that knows how to pull (or better, do the pulling yourself) and go to town in a dungeon.Unless you raid exclusively, I don't think you should be just giving up and rolling a conj, lol. (and even then, you should be rolling a ranger, heh)

I was level 60 when I quit. Only thing I was doing was raiding, or working on quests for access to raids. And honestly, it was pretty pathetic. I know how the class works, or in reality doesnt work, at least for the way I want to play. I just became very disappointed with the class and the game over all. And was hoping for sweeping changes. Looks like none are to come, at least ones that are IMO in the right direction. I

The bad thing is that, should the devs fix something (let's say today), we have no reason to think they will not nerf it to nothing in 6 weeks. We even have all the reasons and the experience to be sure that they will nerf it soon. The LUs#13 to 18 have been the biggest disappointment ever for a class, and there is no guess of a light in the tunnel. The devs are silent, as if they had already buried us. From time to time, they will throw one word, just maybe for those of us who haven't given up yet to keep hope (and keep paying), but no short nor long term improvement seems planned.
