Hrm... not that I can think of. Even though there are a fair share of 'disatisfied' Illusionists in this forum... I feel pretty confident you can gain some guidance from us. If you will just post your question, I think you will find a few different opinions on the matter (which is really good if you want to hear both sides).

VR,

Kailen - 60 Illusionist Faydark

Yep, this is the place! There's a good set of enchanter forums at www.therunes.net -- however they're mostly used for EQ1, and the EQ2 sections tend to be underpopulated.

I thought of the forum, however I have read the forums and found that most question turn into a hate column for the Illusionist. I can't speak for everyone but I love the Illusionist class and see it as a challenge to work around the short falls of the class. I know the class, falls short in many areas, but what I was looking for is many of you how stuck with the class worked around those short falls. I am tried as many of my Illusionist friends of hearing how broken the class is. If they are not happy reroll, that easy. Now don't get me wrong, do we need loving? yes. Is the class hopeless? no.

I do believe that SOE knows of our short falls and loving will come our way, but till then how play your class reflects on the player.

I wonder how long before this turns into a hate column, again.

For those of you who help with answer; Thank you

(Illusionist all the way)

Very clever. But if you yourself think that the class "has shortfalls" and "needs loving" - why would you not allow others to make statements to that effect? And as to your statement "most question turn into a hate column for the Illusionist" - I guess I'll just say that in my opinion, posting an issue or a complaint is not the same as a hate column. And not every question results in that, anyway. If someone asks what Mana Cloak is and where it can be found, people answer their question, they don't say "why are you still playing an illusionist?"I guess we need a separate illusionist forum where all the happy people can go so that they never hear anything bad, and where Disappointment will always be resisted.Edit: And I'm sorry if you feel that this is a hate column, it isn't. But I feel somewhat insulted when people insinuate that anyone with a complaint is a hopeless hater.
Message Edited by Impetus on 12-20-2005 03:26 PM

"I guess we need a separate illusionist forum where all the happy people can go so that they never hear anything bad, and where Disappointment will always be resisted."

Lol... I would prefer we keep this integrated forum. I don't mind people saying that they are 'angry' or 'discontent' with OUR current abilities. It adds depth to our class. It shows a great deal of care/concern and even (can't believe I am gonna say it) pride. Bark, growl, and bite all you want, I know you wouldn't go to such lengths if you didn't really care.

As for the OP who wants a forum to resource in... you will not find a better mixture than ours. If everyone was single-minded in their opinions as to 'we are broken' then you are not going to get much insight into the class. You won't find as robust scenario for variable play styles. Worst of all, you will find no hope for a bigger, better world for our class.

No matter how much someone complains, given the chance, they will post a mile-long thread of some very interesting changes for our class for any number of different scenarios. I do so enjoy these aspects. Even if I don't agree with all of them, or wished we could channel our concerns and actually get a 'Dev' in here to post and chat a little with us. I don't care if they agree with me... or you, or anyone for that matter. Just the 'sharing' of ideas and the periodic 'attention' aspect a SINGLE post from one of them would mean to the forum would do wonders.

Personally, I like our 'challenged' forum and characters... so post how YOU feel, and I will answer or converse the way I feel

VR,

Kailen - 60 Illusionist Faydark

It wasn't just directed at you, but all the people who have said that over the past year. Not really fair to you, though, so I apologize.I love hearing different viewpoints, that's why I read forums, to find out what other people think and to hear what they have to say. I'm totally cool with people posting that they have fun and enjoy every second of their time as an illusionist. Great! I love hearing Strewth post about how his guild uses mezzes all the time in their raids. Wonderful!Anyway, in my opinion, the more viewpoints, the better. A forum where everyone agrees won't be very interesting. Heck, one of the things I like the most about the illusionist class is its variety, I wish we had even more. And I think some of that playstyle variety (and maybe even personality variety) shows up in this forum.Okay, one last comment about "negative" posts. The OP, and many people who are of a similar opinion, still wishes there were things about the class that were better (whatever those things might be). They just don't like posting and reading all the complaints. That's fine. But I wish those people would understand the opposite view, that some people don't mind complaining if it will help things get better. And that just because people complain doesn't mean they don't like some things, too.If my pizza has pepperonis on it, I won't really enjoy it as much as if it had black olives. The crust might be great, along with the sauce, the cheese, and how hot it is. Just because I complain about the pepperonis and wish for black olives, doesn't mean that I don't like the pizza! I do like the pizza, I just wish it were better. If you agree that the pizza would be better with black olives, then we really don't have any fundamental disagreement. It's just that you don't think it's important enough to complain about, whereas I do. (Maybe I'm vegetarian, who knows?) So I'll end this post with that analogy and go get something to eat now because I made myself hungry.

I like to see people voice there opinions but sometimes it gets a little stupid. I think some people take it too far. Other then that I like to see people point out the problem, maybe even a way to resolve it.

You cannot get away from the odd post which is nothing but complaint after complaint, but the majority of posts ive found to be quite interesting.

So keep looking in here, and let us know of any cool tricks you find, particular ways to play in a group/solo/raid etc...

Another point, there is an Illusionist Cross-Server Channel which I find very useful. Highkeep.Illusionist i think. Join that channel and you will have many level 60 Illusionists in game. So between that channel and these boards you have all the help you need.
