<DIV>Just rolled an Enchanter, planning to go illusionist.</DIV> <DIV>BEFORE you berate me for choosing this route, know that until now I have played an SK (prior to Combat Update quite gimped)...strangely enough, now that SK's perform admirably, I got bored. Maybe I'm drawn to the more difficult subclasses.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here's a thought...In the 50's Illusionists get Illusory Allies, which I do believe is regarded highly by those of that level...why not create an entire spell line based on this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Possibly, what could be done is re-format the current illusions into a single illusory ally that increases in power at the different levels we receive it. My thought is that this Aggro saving skill would be quite welcome in groups and raids, saving other members from certain death.</DIV> <DIV>Just a thought...kinda thinking out loud...on the forum...well, typing out loud really...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Feedback? Flame?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>"Just rolled an Enchanter, planning to go illusionist. <DIV>BEFORE you berate me for choosing this route"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>Lol...what ever gave you the idea we would 'berate' you for going with this path... are we not all due some 'berating' if that were the case?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>As for your suggestion, I'm not really sure yet. Illusory Allies have been found to be useful in some scenarios... and extremely detrimental in others. It just happens to depend upon the situation. Which unfortunately is behind a lot that is troubling our class. There are too many situations where we can be easily replaced, or not overly beneficial.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>It is either a very bad time to be an Illusionist, or a very critical time... depends on your view I suppose. I happen to like the last of the two. A critical time to me simply means a period of refinement/ redefinition. The part that bothers most of us is that we have little say/ involvement in the transition.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>I like this forum... I like the class... and I like the people who post here. Most are like me whether they want to admit it or not... they want to be part of the reason our class gets its just due. We enjoy the concept behind the class... just not completely satisfied with the abilities in several scenarios.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>I hope you stick with your Illusionist... be sure to let us know if we can offer any helpful advice.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>Edit:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>"</FONT><FONT color=#f0e1de>re-format the current illusions into a single illusory ally that increases in power at the different levels we receive it. <P>Thanks for not flaming!</P> <P>Any hints or tips that you could suggest to help me along the way would be much appreciated. Hit 17 Last night, notmally I would be betraying at this point, but I'm definitely sticking with the illusionist side. </P> <P>As for the illusory ally, I've thought more...and you're right that it would be much like the personae...unless they made it limited, a long re-cast timer, a short duration (30 seconds)...something we can cast that takes the mobs attention off of us just long enough to re-cast a personae or other butt saving spell. </P> <P>Like a stun, or mez, but one that couldn't be broken as it is an illusion stealing the mobs attention doing damage over time.</P> <P>Bah, just rambling...I would like something done to help this class out...I've been having a blast, even though I tend to die lots.</P>
<P>One spoiler.</P> <P>When you do the Illusionist class quest, you need to kill three types of Gnolls. </P> <P>You can run around and look for them or you can read the locations on many popular sites and go dig them out ot BB as they suggest...ooooooorrrrrr....</P> <P>You can run from sir whatevers camp by the hunters woods toward BB thru the valley there. Each time you run thru if you have the quest they will spawn one of the types you need.</P> <P>The entire quest takes ten minutes this way.</P>

<DIV>Boombahyay</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for posting. Most people in the forum (probably all of us) welcome new illusionists asking questions, and like to help if we can.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regarding hints and tips. I put a few in the <STRONG>Quick tips and tricks for Illusionist class</STRONG> thread, as have others.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sounds like you are an old hand at another class, so the following paragraph is probably for others who are competely new to this forum:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you have specific questions, you can do a quick search of the forum, but don't be too hesitant about starting a new thread. It really helps if the thread has a specific title (eg: "Soloing for a 20-30 illusionist"), so folk who need that advice know the thread is for them, and folk with advice to offer know to have a look in it. The forum doesn't get that many posts, especially specific posts on tactics and advice, so go ahead and ask. You'll be helping make this forum a better resource for budding illusionists. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And when you gain a few levels, don't hesitate to give your opinion yourself. One or two may slap you down saying: "you're not over 50, so your opinion doesn't count." But actually the game has changed since we were your level, so you know more about being an illusionist at your level than we oldies do, and your opinions may be more valid than ours. The concerns of a lower level illusionist matter just as much as those of a high end raider. Your time and pleasure in this game is just as important as ours.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Elleii, 58 Illusionist, Antonia Bayle</DIV>

<P>Thanks so much for making me feel welcome!</P> <P>I most definitely will make use of the forum and ask when there's things I may be doing wrong...Kinda tough going from Tank to Caster...which could very well be the reason for my early high death totals. Still enjoying it a bunch though, even the frustrating stuff. Reminds me of the old days with my SK. I enjoy a challenge.</P> <P>I hope this class does get a tweak or two...or three...maybe even four. </P> <P>See you all in game, or right here... and thanks again!</P> <P> </P>
