View Full Version : Why did SOE bother with a well thought out, thoroughly tested combat update??

<DIV>Why did they bother? We waited months to finally get a class that was playable. Prior we could hardly solo, but were wanted in raids. Then the update! We can finally solo without massive debt! Our class started to be fun to play. We finally got a bit of what we needed. Then Update 16. So much for the combat update. We are now worse off than we were before the update. We not only can't solo nearly as well, but are hardly any use in raids either. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I really don't understand why SOE went to the extremes they did in doing the combat update, testing it as long as they did, only to nerf enchanters as they have. Think a long time and update and make a class happy. Think a short time and nerf us well past reason.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Devs, please give us something to show us we are, or will soon be, a class worth playing again. If it wasn't for my friends and guildmates, I would probably not have groups very often. <P>I have to agree.</P> <P>A lot of the good work (for chanters) that went into LU13 is being unravelled by a spate of kneejerk reactions.</P> <P>If this is the vision for us, one can only assume our class was never intended to be viable. After 12 months dedicated to my chanter I feel a bit like the victim of a huge practical joke.</P>

Hmmm imho seeing as that the root nerf alone effectively took us back to pretty much pre-cu in solo ability ie too much like hard work and no fun aka risk/reward (the stuns, stifles and mezzes nerfs only exacerbate the situation tbh) and the cu itself nerf'd pretty much the majority of our raid usefulness, i can not really agree that the cu update for our class was well thought out or throughly tested. This stems i think mainly from the lack of high level chanters on test, and the lack of our class in general, and ignorance and lack of vision from the devs on our behalf.We suffered in silence for too long and didnt kick up enough racket in the abilites forum it seems, because we hoped for some attention. Now we find a voice, the devs are banning and locking threads because they have no answer to our problems as yet and seem unwilling to engage in a dialogue.<p>Message Edited by Pogball on <span class=date_text>11-21-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:59 AM</span>

There were some good changes, most of them no-brainers like no more endless re-breezing which cost us deerly. But well thought out?? THOROUGHLY TESTED??????????If you can remember a couple months back most spells were fluidly changing up to the very date of DoF release. As a result we got a stupid pet that some were drooling about... Good idea to have a mage pet that cant dps worth crp to tank for you. The only positives were dps spells, like prismatic and the reduced timer on our "nuke". Everything else was either worse or a ticking time bomb waiting to get nerfed. Yay we can stifle epics, who cares about power drain! gone. Yay we have root that actually works, forget the pet! gone.The reason enchanters are where they are is that the update was NOT well thought out and NOT thoroughly tested.
