I can not speak for others in this situation. However, I myself find myself at a loss to describe the frustrated feeling o get in a raid situation now adays. I love raiding and its half the reason i lvled a chanter to 60 to begin with. Now when i go along on a raid I have limited damage on the mob to begin with. I also find myself no longer in the mt group because i provide no mitigation and have no other buffs that are desirable to a mt group anymore. The only spells i had that made me necesarry before was mana regen but now dirges do this better and have a hate buff for the mt also many more buffs than we have. Some say we are awesome because of mana cloak. My guild doesn't really factor that in since they just have the wizards send the mt power if he gets low now.

I realy feel a a loss to describe how the end game place for us is. I thought that maybe because i had the reflect spel that i might get in the main group spot which i have been accustomed to sonce eq1 but that is not the situation. If we are the ultimate utility class then how come no one else can see our utility. I also had an int buff which i was told to no longer use because they do not stack with other classes buffs that benefits all out weigh mine.

I have since started 2 new characters a ranger and a necro because maybe they can contribute to a raid and feel needed and that their is a place for them. I used to love my illusionist and had hopes of doing things that no one else could do with him and i traded the damage and uber pets of all other mage classes for this. I finally rallized after playing this guy pre lu13 and now that this class is not going to change this is the vision for them and tis pointless to try and enjoy your roll as a high end chanter in this game. You are a breeze bot if the dirge and troubador do not show up. As we speak my guild is puting out advertisement for a dirge who is taking the illusionist spot in the mt group. I ask you if any of you ever thought you would see this day! I would think for all the rididculous bs we have put up with lvling and cruddy solo abilities and gimped grp stun and mez abilities that our utility would shine in the one most important utility area in the game where there are 24 people depending on you. This apparently isnt the case.

The only time that i pull my illusionist out now is if they need me on a raid for guild and the leader is short people. This is because i know im just there to be a battery and thats it. It is extremely boring and doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling i used tog et when i was able to contribute to the greater benefit of the whole in a better compacity.

I am retiring my illusionist and only bringing him to raids if the guild needs him. Or maybe to harvest so i can twink out my alts to get them high level s i can bring them on raids.

I'm quite happy about my utility in raid at the moment

When something needs to be mezzed, i'm there, If power is a problem, i'm usefull.

For some raids i'm even in the top tier of the damage dealers thanks to Dynamism / Color Shower / ... (multiple targets of course)

It is just that i'm not needed at all raids, it depends.

We chanters have lost a lot of utility with DoF revamp, but we gained a lot too (pet + damage)

That's something we all have wished for.Yay to DPS, I didn't sign up this class to do DPS.We aren't needed on most raids, except as an AF Bot. As for saying we gained a lot, uhm, damage isn't utility. And our pet is a joke on raids. Dynamism, Legerity, Seal, Aspect will give as much, if not more, DPS than our pet would do.

I raid a lot, and am usually in the main tank group to provide power regen, mana cloak, resists, massive WIS buffing (+69) for our priests, and some other utility. I do plenty of mezzing on raids, and yes you can mez quite a few of the subsidiary epic mobs just fine. x4's are usually no, but you can almost always mez the x3's. I also kick out reasonable amounts of damage.

Overall I'm fairly happy. I wish the stifle / stun did something, but they don't. So it goes. Our interrupt DoT helps though, breaking up two of the epic's special attacks.

- Influential

- Najena

Fyi those are not epic mobs in the encounter-Its an epic encounter and in t6 the mobs come grped with true unmezzable epics. Seal and other int buff overwrite the conjuror buffs which are far superior than ours for mitigation.

If you are not raiding t6 mobs please do not post about knowledge of this class ubtil you get there.

If you are in the top tier of dps then you best have a word with your raid leader about his tactics. If the raid leader has any clue what he is doing you will not be in the mt group. If the tank needs mana it will be dumped byt the wizard to him.

I really dont know why you think 69 wiz and in is uber being that if your lvl 60 and your not at the cap you pretty much better get some new gear. I also have yet to see a t6 mob that hits for sivine damage or magic samage nearly every single one is poison damage

or elemental thereby making our buff against divine and magic useless about the only good spell we have in a raid is dismay and the true effectiveness of it is questionable. Manacloak was a good spell but since we are not in the main tank group its useless.

This leaves ud with

Dismay

Spellshield

Savante

Insight

and 2 dot spells

and 2 direct damage spells

And dynamism

If you think this is acceptable for a utility class then you have a lot to learn about the classes!!!!! Roll up a dirge and see what he brings to the raid at lvl 60 roll up[ any other class and they have more utility than you. Again, if you are not 60 do not bother replying to this cause you have no idea what its like to raid a t6 mob to your full effectiveness..If you do not play an illusionist save your comments cause you have no clue what your talking about.

To whoever posting who got to play an illusionist for the last 2 months when we were actually fun to play and you rolled one up than save it because you have no clue what we went through for 9 months. Thank you for your time

I love my illusionist, and I have a lot of fun raiding. yeah it would be nice if our stifles and drains did something of use, like maybe the stifles did an interrupt on epics... but it's not such a big deal that you should quit.

AMEN!!!! Great post *******

I have been playing this illusionist since Nov 05 through thick and thin, but my patiece is deffinatly wearing out.

Now how about against the big Spider in SS, thats where our complete uselessness on a raid really comes out! Oh ya, and the warlocks asked me to drop my INT/WIS buff so they can keep their skill buff up...but I still was able to cast breeze and enjoy the show while eating dinner.... I mean I actually miss the 15 mins recast on breeze, because at least I had something to do!

This is pathetic, I just cant wait to level my dirge up so I can actually do something other then mez raid trash mobs.

:smileysad:

trenor wrote:

Fyi those are not epic mobs in the encounter-Its an epic encounter and in t6 the mobs come grped with true unmezzable epics.
trenor yes our situation is pretty ridiculus now in raid,

a single illusionist cant do anything and since our buffs arent thet cool we never get a spot in MT group also if we have that awsome spell called spellshield

i dont mind to be in main tank group but just 3 little changes would make us a lot more useful in raid:

1) make spellshield castable on a RAid target so we can provide still the dps buffs on dps classes (aye haste on MT is completely wrong) and protect the MT

2) add 3 interrupts in speechless spell line (1 beginning 1 in middle 1 at end) so combining em with psycothic spectrum and with some skills u can use at least a little of the ability illusionist should be able to do versus epic target too.. and 2 illusionist well coordinated can do wonders (evrything depends on their skills)

3)improve the mana drained by our drain spells

think about what i wrote.... those changes will not overpwer us but will make us a lot more happy to be in raid and give us a chance to show our skills and dont act just buff bots

Merklar 59 illusionist, splitpaw
