Dont come here often but decided to come here and ask if anyone else has encountered this bug. Fellow Illusionist ( Aidem - Fires of Heaven) and I are seeing that our Power Drain Spells are instantly breaking mez on mobs. Anyone else encountered this yet ? We have started to ask fellow chanters on our server about this and are providing feedbacks to SOE on it. Last word we received was that a GM said that our Power drain spells are NOT supposed to break mez. So please if you see this "bug" make note of it and also provide feedback to SOE so we can get this fixed.

( IF this has already been mentioned please disregard. Like I said dont come here often unless asked to by my fellow chanters from Permafrost to read a post)

Power drains have always broken mezz afaik.

I came to think of it as "Power damage" - so power nukes or drains are 'damaging' the targets power pool.

It would be kind of unfair to be able to mezz a named, keep him mezzed while you drain all of his power, and than after all of the targets power has been dissipated begin to work on damaging the targets health pool.

Haven't power drains always broken mez? Seems to me that any "damage" done to a mobs health or power will snap them out of a mez...I'm sure I tried this a few times back when I was using speechless at the time and it broke mez then. I think this line of thought comes from EQ where you could mez a mob and use the "mana tap" line of spells on them without breaking the mez...I remember doing it back then and that's why I tried it here. /shakefist Dainger Curse your informative speed!

Message Edited by KaynanEmberwood on 10-08-2005 07:30 AM
Yah, been this way since launch, not a bug.

I dont think it has been that way. If you did a PoT drain on a mob, then cast Mezz, the power loss per tick did NOT break mezz. If you hit them with the initial spell after it was mezzed, then yes it did break it. Used to be able to land your drains, then land a mezz, and just stand there and watch it go down, while the mob couldnt move.

BUt either way, once a mob is mezzed why try to drain it? I have cast over 20 drains on a single mob and it always seems to have like 70% power left anyway.

In the past, you could cast speechless on a mob and afterwards mez it and the tick DID break mez.

My power drains have always broken mez on every tick for as long as I can remember, whether you mezzed first or last.

If it's a bug then it's been a long time getting fixed.

As stated above, our power drains now are so weak (relative to the mob's power) that you'll be a long time draining anything serious even if you could.

Still, I guess I won't complain if they 'fix' it.

Message Edited by Belizarius on 10-09-2005 09:01 PM

While we are on the subject of power draining, lately i have been trying to drain mobs power and the drain spells land ie: Speechless and Drain Mind, and i dont see there Blue bar above there heads move one little bit, in the mean time i started thinking to myself that it was a pure melee mob, but dont melee mobs have power too?

Another thing is when im watching mobs cast spells like ice comet etc etc, there power bars dont move.

Am i seeing things? Because all i ever see is a HP bar, or maybe i have a setting somewhere that turns power bars off? If i have i have never turned them off.

Blue bar doesn't display until they're down to about 75%. It's kinda dumb. My custom UI always tells me what % they're at though so if I look at my target window I can see it there.

There are setting somewhere for when you do/don't see the power bar. I have mine set so that I always see the power bar on a mob I have targeted, even if it's full, so it is possible (and that's without a custom UI). PigLick

Ok i found the settings and turned them on, i dont even notice the mobs Power move one little bit yet it is registering in my damage logs.

Mobs must have a crazy amount of power, because both my Speechless and Drain Will are both Adept I nothing crazy like master I, but still you should at least see a movement in the power bars if your attempting to drain them of power.

Was testing them on the mobs in Sol Eye, and i swear that it did not move there power bars one little bit, lvl 48 - 49 mobs.

Message Edited by -Aonein- on 10-14-2005 11:04 AM
