<DIV> <DIV>most posts and comments on the illusionist forum come from high lvl player. they seem pretty pleased with their solo abilities now. however there have also been some remarks from low lvl player who stated that they are not very impressed and have a hard time with soloing still.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just out of curiosity i mentored down to mid twenty and went to try out my solo abilities at this lvl range.</DIV> <DIV>I was very positive surprised.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The first thing i noticed while sorting my spells to the appropriate lvl was that some spell lines that i formerly only knew as high lvl spells i now had available in same form at low lvl already. Which made it very easy for me to adjust and scale down as i could simply take over my used spell set up and only had to replace the high lvl spell with the lower lvl version. Whereas before combat change some spells more or less would work completely different each tier (overwhelming silence - speechless - mind drain for example)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The same continuity i experienced while actually fighting. To fight as mid twenty illusionist felt almost the same as fighting as lvl 50+. Although i didnt have all of my high lvl abilities at my disposal I still had the core ones and could use same tactics with very similar outcome. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Normal blue and white solo encounter, no matter if single mob or group, i could kill without much hassle. i didnt run into yellow ones, but would think they should be doable without too much trouble also. </DIV> <DIV>one arrow up mobs did require a bit more focus but never seemed to be a close fight.</DIV> <DIV>i didnt try heroic mobs, could imagine that i would run out of power too fast to make it worth it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So from my experience solo ability at low lvl (at least mid twenties) is very compareable to high lvl. I was killing a bit slower, which was to be expected considering that all my high lvl spells are master / adep 3, while several of my low lvl key spells are only app 1 (personae, phantasmal ray...), some app 3 and nothing higher than adept 1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My advice for low lvl illusionist who have trouble with soloing:</DIV> <DIV>1. upgrade your spells.</DIV> <DIV>2. review your tactics.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>and if you still dont like it or think its not good enough, maybe better consider to reroll. Cause the "feeling" will remain the same even at high lvl.</DIV></DIV>

<DIV>Hello,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Since I've started playing EQ2 just a month ago, I was hardly confused when the combat revamp went live.</DIV> <DIV>I was playing a cleric, and too many changes occured that deprecated my entire way of playing. I couldn't help friends anymore. People dying around plunged me into deep frustration. When I caught up the grind a week later, I realized I was not fitting any more the healer role. That was my first time as a healer, that was a failure...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Time's elapse...Nostalgy. I always played support characters, "Jack of all trades" applied many times to the chars I played. Some say their power is the ability to deal massive damage, others will object that healing is the best way to win a fight. I am of those who say : "No matter how much you deal or how much you heal when the enemy doesn't hit you". I love crowd control.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, Tabula rasa... Changed server (US to UE english), changed char. Bye, my sweet kerran...And back to my first love. Illusionist was by far the best choice I could pick for a good cc. I gain regen power as well, as expected :smileywink:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have to admit I had not experienced such a heavy and balanced crowd control since, well let's say since I started playing MMORPGs. The single Mezz 'Fascinate' we get as base enchanter spell is outstandingly efficient, so is the root. Color schemes and spell effects made me feel like I was playing Xan in Baldur's Gate.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I play with my girlfriend (she rolled a druid and went fury). No need to say we barely have to run once a day. When I became Illusionist, I tried some solo with the Persona spell. Awesome. We sure lack some DPS, but we all know illusionists were not designed to deal massive damage. Your fights last long, actually long enough to lose a significant amount of health due to the use of Consume ego, but you can handle three mobs encounters as three single mob encounter and it helps a lot.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far I played solo, the best I can take down, with some good HOs is an encounter of three blue con heroic one arrow up. long fight, 40% health and less than 10% power remaining to both myself and my persona, but about 8% xp reward. Non heroic yellow monsters are not a challenge. I think the most annoying targets for us illusionists are higher level heroic single monsters, because they have a lot of HP, and resist some spells. You don't like a white or yellow heroic resists your root... The time you spend to regain control of the fight is mostly the time they take to mincer you to small dices. Just hope you made a good use of your two stuns or you didn't use poison, so you can mez it. When soloing higher levels, i rarely use gloom or cerebral lash (the two dot spells), so that I can keep control on the rooted mob.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well I don't know the pre-revamp Illusionist, but The illusionist I play is a miracle boy and a strong soloer. Game remains fun and strategic while soloing. Just a thing I would like, would be to begin or complete HO with my Persona.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Have a nice time playing Illusionist :smileyhappy:</DIV>
