Has it happened to anyone else that creation of an Adept III for the Personae spell results in no change at all in the capability or level of the pet?

How are you determining this? Better versions of the Personae will not change the level of the pet. It will only affect the quality of the spells it casts. At App I, it should be casting App 1 spells. At Adept III, it should be casting Adept III spells.

Here's some hard numbers showing a difference between the two. There is a marked increase from Apprentice 1 to Adept III. Personae Duplicate (Apprentice I) Average Damage per Spell: Gloom 34 dmg Phantasmal Ray 112 dmg Ego Shock 104 dmg Personae Duplicate (Adept III) Average Damage per Spell: Gloom 52 dmg (53% increase) Phantasmal Ray 162 dmg (45% increase) Ego Shock 166 dmg (60% increase)

Message Edited by MillsFairchild on 09-22-2005 02:44 PM

I also figured out the total pet DPS difference: Averaged over a sample of 18 fights... Personae Duplicate (Apprentice I) DPS: 26.3 Personae Duplicate (Adept III) DPS: 46.4 (76% increase) These numbers are without Dynamism on the pet. Dynamism adds an average of 16.7 DPS to the Personae's output. An extra 20 DPS over a 60 second fight is worth 1200 damage. Not a huge difference, but a lot more of an upgrade than some other spells are. If you can manage to find an Adept I of the spell, it might be a different story.

Message Edited by MillsFairchild on 09-22-2005 03:25 PM

The thing that frustrates me abotu the Dopple is that it is another non-scaling upgrade. Casts tier 2 spells in tier 6. It should scale, then it would be much more worthwhile than something to cast your Pris on.

I should have added that those pet DPS numbers are WITHOUT Dynamism on the pet (for a more accurate depiction of the pet's isolated numbers). Dynamism adds an average of 16.7 DPS to the pet's output. btw, I agree. It sucks that it casts Tier 2 spells.

Thanks but my question was why more related to why my Personae (pet) indicates level 34 when my character is level 50.

A CS ticket did not explain it I was wondering if anyone here could.

Thanks-

An FYI for those who are getting a lower-level pet:

I had the same problem at first because it wasn't completely clear to me which spell was highest level spell. I was originally going by power costs and that turned out to be wrong. The highest-level personae spell is the one that costs the least amount of power (at least it was for me a few days ago). Just FYI in case you ran into the same problem as me.

I thought the plan for this thing was to have it cast spells one tier behind you so it did scale. What happened?

Speaking of the personae pet, I have seen quite a few illusionists running around with a lower level pet...like 5 to 10 levels lower than they are...any reason for this?
