<DIV>It took what seemed like 20 min and a couple of swigs of clarity and vivacity potions but I was able to kill the Pit Champ with my 43 Illusionist.  The worst part is the start during power drain since mez won't work while Speechless is up.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I had to root and pray while waiting for the dot to wear off - then I remezzed.  Roots seem to break on him quickly so I also waited for the Drain Will timer to refresh before I cast Speechless again.  That gave me an extra stun in case root wasn't working and he wasn't mezzable.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It took about three times to get him completely power drained and even then he would double or tripple shot me for 300hps.</DIV> <DIV>Could have done it without the potions but would have taken longer for the health bar to go up, and my patience would have run out :smileywink:.  I also hexed him with a chaos linen doll to maximize the damage output.  Lucky hexing doesn't break mez and it gave me something to do while I was waiting for the health bar to get out of the red.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by KillerJones on <span class=date_text>07-02-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:00 AM</span>

<FONT color=#ffffff></FONT> <DIV>I finally beat the solo arena last night after about 6 tries. Took me just over an hour start to finish. Meanwhile, my wife who plays a fury did it in about 6 minutes, lol. But our solo capabilities are just fine, right? :smileywink:</DIV>

just a hint too, if you're rooting and dotting anything that you know you can't take too many hits from (speechless or hp dots), hover your mouse over the dot on maintained spell window, and if root breaks, click off the dot, and run away while casting whichever non-interruptable mez yer using.  Saves yerself a lot of panic.

<DIV>I'm still trying to figure out how I can do it.  I've died 4 times now after mentoring a lvl44 to drop the pit champ down by 6 levels.  <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course I don't have the patience to do a 2hr fight on the final mob to do the mez, nuke, mez thing.  I'm sure I could do it then.  Still debating on if I should try to oop him or not (again, little patience).</DIV>

<P>I timed the even last night and was surprised - only 25 minutes.  It felt like an hour or two.</P> <P>Like many on the boards, I start with a mez then hex then root.  </P> <P>Next I cast speechless then drain will then speechless again followed by another root.</P> <P>Power draining is the most dangerous part because he can't be mezzed so once speechless wears off I mez him and wait for drain will to come back up.  Once up, I root, cast speechless then stun.  I can fire off one more root and a mez just to be safe but he should be OOP at that point.   He still hits hard though so it's all mez root nuke repeat until he's dead.  I also used the wand to conserve power by rooting, casting the wand then queing mez so that it fired immediately after the wand nuked him.</P> <P>By the end I was mostly full power and health.</P> <P>He won't kill you, impatience and distractions will.  The pic on the bottom right says it all as far as enchanters versus the (former) champ are concerned.</P> <P><A href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer_gallery.vm;jsessionid=A4F5AC51A2658811A363 CD1A4F78F4DE.sdt-foyert21-27009?characterId=222388203" target=_blank>http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer_gallery.vm;jsessionid=A4F5AC51A2658811A363 CD1A4F78F4DE.sdt-foyert21-27009?characterId=222388203</A></P> <P>Message Edited by KillerJones on <SPAN class=date_text>07-05-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>05:02 PM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by KillerJones on <span class=date_text>07-05-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:20 PM</span>

<DIV>I didn't power drain at all. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>10 sec stun</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ho using anyerisum last. (has chance to stun)..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mez + root spell +dismay</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyerisum </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mez + Root .. I didn't allways use dismay but threw it in sometimes just in case.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When stun is refreshed previous HO</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway doing this.. you have a chance for stun with anyerisum and also if that doesnt stun you have a chance for your root to hold. Also, root nor dismay breaks Mez.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Killed champ without getting hit and never want to do it again..it's just not worth the time invested imo. You can use this on all the encounters, for multiple mob arena encounters its a little tricky..just keep em mezzed, and you can still use same tactic just finish them one by one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also , I never used this to solo for exp and don't reccomend it..but I don't like soloing anyway. I'm a group kind of guy ^_^</DIV>

<P>To power drain seems just unnecessary risk. We can only kill by mez-nuke tactics anyways, will not make much difference if the mob is drained or not. </P> <P>Take your time, be patience, stay focused and dont fall asleep.</P> <P>Took me exactly one hour from zone in till last kill. Ironically i was full hp at the end but out of power. </P> <P>The warlock who started at same time had finished when i was fighting the 3rd mob. The summoner i talked to before going to the arena ensured me its done fast. He just finished very difficult setting and its not really hard he said. </P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

Power drain can make a big difference if he gets a hit on you, especially fighting the champion.  He can land a special attack in one swing and knock you down if you are sitting in the yellow or worse. At 50 I started out rooting, casting Drain Mind, root, drain, root, drain till he is out of power then mez. If you want to speed up the mez nuke process here is what i have found useful (at level 50) to get 2 HO combos in between mezzes Starting off with the mob mezzed Trigger HO and wait for it to refreash before advancing Once HO is ready again Advance one you already started with Stun (drain will), then complete with Master Gnoll Strike (or Phantasmal Charge) Right away cast HO again and advance with Aneurysm (if you do this right it will land before Drain Will wears off) If Aneurysm stuns, complete HO with Phantasmal Charge, cast stunning array and then mez If Aneuysm does not stun, take a hit, cast Stunning Array then mez If Arcane Fury HO ever pops up I use Psychotic Spectrum in place of Phantasmal Charge, or just complete with Stunning Array and remez. If you do this combo right he may get one swing off at the most, if he is power drained you can take the hit or he will miss. If you get low on health skip the second HO, and go back to the normal stun nuke mez until you have some health. and remember to take food and water <div></div>

I did him Mez-Nuke on normal with no issues.  It took 15min or so.  I did not drain and was hit maybe twice for 350ish.  I got a HO off every time my stun refreshed.  I used stun to give me the extra time. <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I might be wrong but it sure seemed like Psychic Assailant stunned him every time.  I will watch closer, this would allow for a HO every cast.  I was nevous on my first attempt so didn't try it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If it works then a HO with PA starting it to stun, then finish with Pris Discord, would be a 800 - 1k round.  Could shorten the fight alot but at the expense of power.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Going to try the next level.  He might be a different story.</DIV>

<DIV>Killed the Pit Champ on normal at level 39 last night, on my second try, with mostly blue con gear.  The stun-nuke-mez approach does work.  Was about a 20 min fight on the Champ.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The concept is that the 1 min refresh time on your long stun is "one round".</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So during the power drain phase, a round was speechless, stun, root, mez, mez, mez, til stun up again.  The root is in there to keep him away until speechless wears off, so mez will hold.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>During the damage phase, a round was trigger HO, gnoll master strike, stun, fast nuke or AE stun (whichever finishes HO), nuke with chance to mez, mez, mez, til stun up again.  I would take at most one or two hits per round doing this, but some rounds he would miss.  When stun resisted, go right to mez.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I used the +agi stat potion throughout, and took about 4 shots of the health regen potion.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A fun exercise, but it shows how weak we are at soloing for decent exp.   You can kill a tough mob if you want to spend enough time doing it, but that is crazy for run of the mill soloing for exp.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Just a suggestion or something to try. When you fight the mob, try to root it(I know it breaks a lot). I was able to kill the pit champion on very hard(lvl 57) in about 6-7 minutes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Terrifying Vision is actually very useful in soloing. I know it breaks a lot but there are certain spells that you can use which cause it to break less frequently.  One such spell is mind drain. When fighting the lvl57 Pit Champion, I have not found a better spell combination(there may be better) than doing the following:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Mez the chamion immediatly</DIV> <DIV>2) Cast Dismay(this will not break the mez)</DIV> <DIV>3) Cast Terrifying Vision (this will not break the mez)</DIV> <DIV>4) Cast Mind Drain(this will break the mez and about 90% of the time did not break the root)</DIV> <DIV>5) Recast Dismay and repeat 3,4,5</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If the mob had power I alternated between Terrifying Vision and mind drain(threw in dismay when I needed due to recast delays). Another important thing to remember is to have a backup plan. It is important to notice this mob is too high lvl to be affected by Capture Mind. You have to use Convincing Regalia(can not be cast on the run). The safest way to approach it I found was to save Drain Will for when/if the root breaks before you want it to. Once this happens, you are open to several options. You can remez and start the sequence over or you can just continue after it is stunned.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once it is out of power you will notice(if it hits you) that you can usually survive a bit longer. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The above procedure can be done also with dots, though they will certainly break the root more often.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also note that DD spells break the root about 75% of the time. I have noticed that finishing an HO on the mob with DD breaks root almost 100%(or close to it).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as actually killing it there are several ways you can go about doing it. Once it was out of power there was no need to mez/nuke mez/nuke. You can sustain the fight without mezzing usually for at least 30 seconds. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A few suggestions, some people may agree with or disagree with these, but these suggestions are specific to the VHard lvl 57 pit champion:</DIV> <DIV>1)never use pet</DIV> <DIV>2)do not use Lobotomize, Wither Hope, or Color Shower unless you have one of 2 things(the pit chamion power drained or you have Drain Will up)</DIV> <DIV>3)once you start to kill the pit champion(power is drained), always lead off with HO</DIV> <DIV>4)keep him debuffed</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I will leave the exact steps to killing it up to you, but I can assure you that there are doable strategies that will bring the pit champion down(consistently) in under 10 minutes. Usually about 5-7. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I hope this helps, good luck and have fun!</DIV>

<DIV>so here's what i did with the normal diff. pit champ</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) mez the pit champion</DIV> <DIV>2) start HO</DIV> <DIV>3) cast drain will - the 1 min recast stun (this triggers the HO)</DIV> <DIV>4a) if the HO is arcane fury (lightning icon), quickly hit em with gnoll mastery</DIV> <DIV>4b) if the HO is arcane storm (star), cast bewildering cascade</DIV> <DIV>5) immediately re-mez</DIV> <DIV>6) rinse and repeat, resting up for power if needed</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>lol</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> i finished him up in like, 30 minutes or more? i think this is the safest yet most time-consuming strategy</DIV> <DIV>and if something goes wrong (resisted mez or anything) i just run around in circles or cast the other shorter duration mez to wait for the main mez</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>did not have any potion, but if he accidentally DoT-ed me, my lambent imbued robe sometimes proc heal so i'm kinda fine</DIV> <DIV>and one more thing that can definitely kill you here is lag</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>At lvl 39, you can add another layer of protection using lock mind and anuerism.      I've not tried the very difficult version yet, but with the regular and difficult, I've yet to lose to the champion using the stun/nuke/mezz variations.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Mez</DIV> <DIV>2. Initiate HO</DIV> <DIV>3. lock mind</DIV> <DIV>4. anuerism (if he resists it, lock mind will not have broken)</DIV> <DIV>5. uncertainty </DIV> <DIV>6. gnoll master strike</DIV> <DIV>7. finish HO and start moving away from champion</DIV> <DIV>8. mezz (while moving)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In between the uncertainty stun, the lock-mind/anuerism duo always works, because a resist of anuerism will not break lock mind.  Most the time, the stun of anuerism gives you time to re-mezz.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I play around with variants using our two DoTs, because it can get pretty boring killing the champion.    You can always lock mind, dot, dot, stun, lock mind.    If the 2nd lock mind doesn't work, just cancel the dots (if they are still active) and remezz.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
