Just thought I would give a chance for an illusionist to post a first. First enchanter to complete the Splitpaw instance solo. Please post level and date time when you succeeded.

Im lvl 47, have good gear and class myself as an experienced player. I can not solo this place at all accept the first group of two mobs. I also just tried to kill a lvl 34 heroic mob and had to run. I've always stood up for soe in the past but ive come to the stage where im about to give up.

Fleetfut.

Splitpaw Server.

Lvl 46. I tried the 'captive audience' version and died 3 times on the first 2 gnolls I encountered. I left.

Can do a few mobs, the first group of two and then roamers, otherwise I'm stuck in this zone. I think if I was a bit lower when both Entrance and Fascinate would both land, it would be a lot less difficult. So, maybe the question is...Is there something wrong with the zone, or our class....probably both. /shrug!

Bubbaq wrote:Cant take on the groups of 4 :/

Well, I have just perfected a strat that can take on the groups of 4. However, it takes 5 minutes.Lobotomize on 1 mob.AoE Mez.Mob will break out of mez on DoT tic, hit you, you break out of mez.Drain Will Mob.Capture Mind 1 mob.Convicinig Regalia another mob.Wither Hope on first mob, along with Phantasmal Charge.Capture Mind last mob.Cast 8s worth of damage spells on initial mob.Capture Mind on that mob that had Convicing Regalia.Finish off Initial Mob.Keep Capture Mind up on all 3 mobs, until Drain Will is ready again.Dismay mob you're going to attack, HO, Drain Will, go all out, make sure to keep others mez'd.Repeat cycle with and so on.This seems to work, however your mileage may vary.I have everything Adept 1s. The following are Adept 3: Phantasmal Charge, Aneurysm, Scorching Beam, Lobotomize, Wither Hope, Prismatic Strife, Color Shower, Mana Cloak, Insight, Capture Mind, Construct of Logic(Albit I don't use that in this tactic), and Consume Ego Master I(this is superb at Master I, 92hp for 48 initial power, every 3s 18hp for 47power, that's just great). So far I've taken down 4 groups of 4s, It's a pain, but it can work, I'm Level 50, obviously. The only problem I forsee is the final named(I invis'd my way through to take a look at the entire zone so I could plan my attack, and the final mob is 1 Lv51 -, and 4 Lv51 --'s).

I have only tried for a bit yet and cleared the first cave where the several groups are in.

The one thing that can be said for sure is: Mez is your friend.

A second thing to remember: have dispel arcane ready on your hotbar. it helps a lot with healer mobs.

I came to use similar tactics as Pinski, just that i do not bother to AE mez. I start out with 2x single mez and then depends what kind of mobs are left (important to find out fast what are caster, healer, melee type of mobs). Either do stun, dismay or dot on the one i am going to fight. Then mez next one.

Keep the others all mezed while killing one. They dont have too much hp it seems, but i still ran out of power on one of the groups. I use color shower as much as possible even when only fighting one. Its nice damage and the stifle helps to keeps caster quiet.

If doing this at slightly lower lvl i could imagine to be able to use speechless may help a lot.

Yes it takes long to kill them. So other than just for fun its not recommended....I had a lot of fun. :smileyhappy:

It's the zone and the class. Combine a 'challenging' and quite difficult zone with the worst solo class in the game, and you have a recipe for disaster.

I have tried this zone with:

24 guardian

23 templar

31 illusionist

24 mystic

All of the above failed to solo it...and by fail, I mean they all died three times at least within the first encounter or two (usually the first group). All with the exception of the templar. He managed to get through the whole zone. Was still very tough, but got through.

I am now in the process of changing my main from the illusionist to the templar, as most of my play is solo and I simply can't handle the rubbish that is an illusionist.

I dind't find it too hard actually at level 47. I did die twice, but one of those deaths was because I was trying a new technique to make things go a bit faster - but that didn't work out.

It was a challenge, don't get me wrong, but I found it a fun challenge.

Oh, as far as technique goes, all I did was pull with capture mind on one mob, regalia a second as the other 3 were running to me, construct (or dot) a 3rd, capture mind the fourth, and as soon as capture mind refreshed again, go back and cast it on the second mob (the one with regalia).

The pet was pretty good actually, it would keep the mob off me as I was mezzing the rest, and by the time I had them all locked nicely, I could throw a bit more dps onto the one the pet was fighting. after that, it was only a matter of mez 1, mez 2, triple (or quad) dot 3rd, HO 3rd (usually dead by this point), mez 1st, kill 2nd, kill 1st. The groups of 4 would take me down to about half health on average, so by the time I killed all 4 and rested to full health after the fight, my construct was ready to go again (or a few seconds away from it). So the timing of it all worked out fairly well.

Message Edited by Machail on 06-12-2005 10:59 PM

First time through I cleared it in a little over an hour. I had to zone out once the first time I tried the 4 group encounter. This might trivialize it, but I am lvl50, in decent amount of master gear, around 7 t5 masters (including wither hope / lobotomize), and 3 t4 masters. Besides the one incident of zoning out, It was easy. The hardest mob was the no arrow up straight melee single mob, because I had to keep him away from me or he would whack me for 700 something with his special if he got close. (He was lvl50, so I couldnt power drain with any efficiantcy) But as the previous posters have stated, Mezz is your best friend! Use it! What I did was when there was more than 2 mobs, I would mezz one, mezz another with convincing regalia, root the third, mezz the 4th. Then stack dots on the rooted one and reroot as needed, while keeping the others mezzed. Kill them off one at a time until they are all dead, but make sure you kill the ones with pets first. I just let the pet hit on me, the caster gnoll that controls it has low hp and dies quickly. The named was easy also, since the minions are 2 arrow downs, just keep the named mezzed and aoe the little guys down until dead..or use the mezz technique described above. Good luck to you, fun zone, but not worth spending another hour in to kill them all again solo. Saden 50 Illusionist Officer of Genesis Highkeep

In response to Zitha's post. If you wanted to just go after the chest drop, you could have just invis'ed to the named, grabbed the chests while invis, solved the puzzle to get to the secret area, kill the hatchlings, get chest, and zone out and be back at the zone-in in under 8 minutes. Saden 50 Illusionist Officer of Genesis Highkeep

I finished it and cleared the whole instance as a lvl 50 illusionist in about 1hour and a half.
