<DIV>Ok, I am a lvl 40 Illusionist now, and having played an enchanter in eq1, i understand the ins and outs of the class.  I like being the buffer and crowd control, i don't care about doing damage, i am not there for that, it is not my role.  I do miss our mezzes and stuns from eq1, but this is a new game and a new world, i can adjust.  However, i am really ticked off about the illusions in game.  It is bad enough that anyone can have any race illusion they desire, but for other classes to have illusions we do not, and for crafters to be able to create totems that give illusions that are better than we even have, now that is just sad.  I understand not giving good aligned chars the evil race illusions, in fact with the eyes, race illusion is not even a factor.  But when i see a conjuror as a fire elemental, or a fury as a fairy or snake, a shaman as a bird, and what do we get ?  Why we can make ourselves into humans, or half elves, and gee i can make the guys in my group into human women.  Illusions usually give the caster some type of buff, and of course we should only get the illusion and not the buff, but we should get it.  I have said this in many other posts but it makes me really angry that soe feels it can just dole this stuff out to us as they like.  We should have had a full complement of illusion spells, yes they are worthless, but they are fun, and we are um ILLUSIONISTS.  We are not even special in that we have group illusions since other classes can cast their illusions on other people.  I simply cannot fathom what soe was thinking when they did this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV> <DIV>There are so many cool models in EQ2, it seems like it would be easy to give us something.</DIV> <DIV>Maybe gelatinous cube, goblin, or huuptic (sp) ?</DIV> <DIV>Or maybe growth/shrink spells (though shamans had them in EQ1)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Speaking of EQ1, chanters there have an illusion that changes the model of a group member and gives buffs... we already have spells that do buffs, so when a new buff is added to chanters, why not give us a buff/illusion spell?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I suppose coercers would flip out if we got a lot of fun spells, but hey... how hard is it to give coercers something?  The emotes for people are already in the game, just let them control more of them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>...if i had to vote for one illusion for us, it'd be gelatinous cube.  I'd never stop laughing, and more importantly, it'd be easy for them to do it, the cube can't do emotes or much of anything, so it should easy to program.</DIV></DIV>

<span> </span>I must admit this is one of the strangest things I have found about the Illusionist class. I've played since BETA and tested the Illusionist class through and through in that time. I now play in retail and am enjoying it. But there are a few niggles with the class that need to be sorted. The lack of Illusions for an "Illusionist" is one. No one can complain if we get illusion spells....just look at our class name! It doesn't take a genious to realise that we should be master of  illusions. So come on Devs....give us some illusions...maybe similar to EQ1 e.g. Illusion that turns us into objects around us and thus makes us indifferent to movs around thinking we are part of the scenery (But we can't move etc) Would be a great "get out of jail free" card......? But we definatly need more illusions and ones that actually help us ....we are Illusionsts??

<DIV> <DIV>Agree. Its the oddest thing that for 5gp every class in the game can get cooler illusions then the class that defines the very word. Oh well ..maybe another day <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PS" Hope a DEV reads this and realizes that Illusionist have the absolute crappiest illusions in the game ....</DIV></DIV>

I agree with the posts about the sad state of illusions for the illusionist class.  I believe that it will be addressed by the developers at some point.  I think that it is not unreasonable to expect illusions that have some benefit other than just the "fun factor".  After the first 100 times we turn into a tree or a geletinous cube, the "fun factor" wears thin.  The benefit needn't be much.  Just enough to give some point to the casting.  Spells that don't have an actual, practical use are very low on my priority list.

<DIV>Ahmen to that Brother.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Calling us illusionists is an insult if we don't even get to be the masters of illusion in the game.  Back when we had no clue what our spell lines were going to be I actually assumed we'd be gettign lots of illusions and then come to find out we get so very very few, and the ones we get are actually useless as near as I can tell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Desdemona wrote:<BR> <DIV>Ok, I am a lvl 40 Illusionist now, and having played an enchanter in eq1, i understand the ins and outs of the class. I simply cannot fathom what soe was thinking when they did this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE><BR></DIV>

<DIV>I completely agree with everything posted.  The whole Group Illusion: Human does tickle me pink when I see my male Templar friend with his hair tied up in pretty blue ribbons, but I would really like to see Sony extend our line of Group Illusions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again.  Our Illusions are FUGLY.  Honestly, can you keep from cringing when staring at yourself in Human form?  Aside from our classes spells, when I use a petrified eye to become a Dark Elf, it looks like my nose was constructed out of a giant piece of silly putty!</DIV>

<P>I only want a single illusion spell.  Just one.  Don't tell me it won't work.  I know it will.</P> <P> </P> <P>Illusion: target.  Give us that one spell and I bet we shut the heck up about illusions....</P>

They shoud give us a line of debuffs that cast an illusion on the enemy <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Turn a giant into a fluffy pink bunny. <div></div>

<P>I love auk's idea!</P> <P>I believe warlocks can already do this, turn mobs into frogs.  Which makes sense for them actually.</P>

<span>Sure it's probably cool, but hey! You get it quite high level... Meanwhile, conjurers can turn into elementals, necro can turn into skel, warlock can turn people into frogs, etc. What's the point to be able to have an human illusion spell? It's not even fun... Imagine what would it be for a human illusionist? "Oh yeah cool, i can cast a spell to pretend to be a human... wait... I am a human!". It's sad to see that illusionists is the class with nearly the lowest illusion spell abilities... A illusion spell which makes you appear as a male when you're a female or a female when you're a male would be much more fun and "worthy" than this silly Illusion: Human spell :'( Illusion: Target spell could be really cool, but at least we should have some really fun spell at lower levels. And we could even have useful fun spells, as other class have some, such as palys or SK with their mount (alright, it does only +10% speed, but it's still better than nothing, isn't it?)<blockquote><hr>Molovian wrote:<div>I thought the same way, until I got gnoll.  Gnoll actually looks cool.</div> <div> </div> <div> </div><hr></blockquote></span><div></div>

<P>All of the "fun" spells, including our illusions, were thrown in at the last minute in beta.  Most of them stink on ice.  They either ran out of ideas, or they assigned a very limited amount of resources to it.   That's why our illusions are so bloody dumb, and that's the bad news.</P> <P>Here's the good news.  You know that, as the game goes forward, more 'fluff' spells will arrive with each expansion pack.  If your a troubador or inquisitor, you can look forward to forcing groupmates into yet more stupid emotes -- because that is the line of fluff spells they get.  At least enchanters have a line of such spells that has real potential.  We may have to wait until level 62 for "Group Illusion: Gnome" or "Illusion: Baby Dragon", but we at least have a good chance at getting something decent.  Eventually <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>In the meantime, my human illusionist will thrill at the ability to turn himself into a variety of boring forms.  Well, I'm only one level from gnoll.</P>

<P>I am pretty sure Illusion: Baby Dragon would either go to warlocks or maybe to Druids. Illusionist will get Illusion: Erudite instead.  :smileymad:</P>

<span>Well, Group Illusion: Gnome is not more fun than Group Illusion: Human. And as zitha said, Illusion: Baby Dragon would certainly go to another class... And i don't see the good news in having a chance to get one cool illusion spell at level 62 with future extensions... We really need all our illusion spells to be changed, and get cool fun spells at early levels. We chanters should have more illusion spells than any other class, be able to cast them on other people if other class can (eg. if warlocks can turn people in the group into frogs, i don't see why we couldn't cast our illusion spells on them), and have illusion spells that can't be used by any other class with some items (currently any other class can have the same illusion spells, and even more, using a bone though...).<blockquote><hr>Oghier wrote:<p> We may have to wait until level 62 for "Group Illusion: Gnome" or "Illusion: Baby Dragon", but we at least have a good chance at getting something decent.  Eventually <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p> <p>In the meantime, my human illusionist will thrill at the ability to turn himself into a variety of boring forms.  Well, I'm only one level from gnoll.</p> <div></div><hr></blockquote></span><div></div>
