Lately i have been wondering a bit about gear. How important is it and how do you get it? Im a lvl27 warlock and still use some lvl10 armor (even have a lvl1 piece equipped). Is this normal? It seems i very rarely find anything worth keeping, think the last piece i held on to came around 7 levels ago. Im going mainly for +INT with a bit of wisdom thrown in. Seems a bit strange to me that the lvl1 belt (+8 int) should be the best one i have seen. <div></div>

<DIV>When you are in the lower levels, gear is great, but it doesn't mean as much as spells.  IMO, anyway.  But as soon as you hit upper end of tier 4 and into tier 5, I think you will see a marked improvement in your gameplay if you fully upgrade your gear.  Once you hit tier 6, it becomes a must.  That has been my experience, anyway.</DIV>

Hmm, what are those tiers people keep talking about. Is it every tenth level or something? So where do i get my gear from? Do i have to farm for gold in order to buy some from market? <div></div>

You want to concentrate on INT, and Disruption.  The stuff that adds wisdom or power is also good.Gear is fairly important, however having your spells upgraded is just as important if not moreso.<div></div>

<DIV>T1 level 1-9</DIV> <DIV>T2 level 10-19</DIV> <DIV>T3 level 20-29 and so on :smileyhappy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have no clue as to how nerfed crafted gear is these days, but back in the day when I moved through upper tiers I harvested all rares needed for gear/spell upgrades and after a while my crafted gear got replaced by legendary gear dropped in instances.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>These days its pretty easy to get legendary gear, since the zones they drop in are popular for grouping, so I dunno if its worth spending time anymore on getting all rare-crafted armor first.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I dont think the legendary stuff are that cheap anymore due to transmuting. Your a little bit too late for shopping lol. They used to be very cheap.</DIV>

So what kind of bonus should i expect out of my gear? I have no frame of reference so i have no clue if +5 int is normal or way below what i should have on any given item. <div></div>

A good comparison would be Mastercrafted for that Tier.  Thats the best crafted armor you can buy for that Tier, so look at the stats on it to give you an idea of how good another item is.<div></div>

<DIV>I have to disagree with mastercrafted armor vs legendary or loot. Until T6 or maybe T5, mastercrafted armor is far superior to everything else, even most fabled drops have lower stats. Most legendary items have lower stats than mastercrafted, the only things they always have better is damage ratio or mitigation, both useless for a caster. It's not rare to find a legendary with stats even lower than a mastercrafted item one tier below.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>T3 mastercrafted, if i remember well, is something like 6 on 2 or 3 stats, and probably 15 or 20 power/hp. I think you will be lucky if you find a legendary with 6 on one stat and the same power/hp. But you should wait until lvl 32, you will be able to wear a full T4 mastercrafted set, and the T4 one is very nice, especially jewelry. Usually i wear the T4 jewelry set until lvl 52, because the T5 is only 2 more on each stat and a few hp/mana, not worth all the rares imo.</DIV>

<div></div>Thanks for the help, will definately try and get my hands on some mastercrafted gear when i reach 32 then. How do i actually find it? Any special keywords to search for at the brokers or anything? Im a provisioner myself and dont think i know any tailors. <div></div>And how much should i expect to pay for the mastercrafted stuff? Will gold farming be required to get even close to owning a set of that gear? (my wallet holds something like 50 gold and im still using app4 for some of my spells). Another question i have thought a bit about; stats - what do they do? Seems to me INT makes your spells more powerful whilst wisdom will help give you more power. Is that correct? And how important is a high INT rating for me? Im getting very annoyed with always getting encumbered after a while of adventuring. That [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] copper weighs to much (carry capacity at 70, usually carry 40 on me when i set out). An hour or two and i move slower, would be nice to wear one item with strength bonus to help against this. But if i need every point of INT i can get i guess i will have to live with it. (and sorry if im posting more general stuff on the class forums, i just feel more "at home" in here) <p>Message Edited by Epictetus on <span class=date_text>12-19-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:03 AM</span>

(Know this myself, as I was there a couple months ago with my own warlock). Buying the stuff off the broker can be fairly expencive, so find a tailor to make it for you. Either buy the roots or harvest them. 50g wont hold long if you want a full mastercrafted set, so harvesting roots for the rares can be very rewarding then, in addition you get normal roots for your own crafting.Often in guilds theres a tailor that can make you the items for the fuel price if you have the rares needed. If you are not in a guild, fine one to join. They will often help with quests, groups, items and its also social and fun.</font><blockquote>Epictetus wrote:<div></div>Another question i have thought a bit about; stats - what do they do? WIS is mostly for resists, but might play some in for power as well. Cant remember all the setup and stats.</font><blockquote>Epictetus wrote:And how important is a high INT rating for me? Didnt have a very good belt at the time, and they arent as good as the armor with int anyways. A belt like that shouldnt cost much. Think its jeweler that makes it too, so go to a craftinghouse and ask someone if they can make one unless you find one cheap on the broker. Sacrificing a couple of INT for some STR so you are not overburdened is defenitly worth it imo, as you can group longer at a time, dont have to break off to town and such. Beeing burdened is not fun at all.Whats is worth checking out is the aa. In KoS I went for STR/WIS line. I took WIS first, but you might start with STR also, and the bonus you get from the first choise there should give you enough STR to keep it going a god while. 32 STR before you get to choose next ability. My advice is at least, get some str so you dont get burdened at once. Not fun walking around slowed all the time.</font><blockquote>Epictetus wrote:(and sorry if im posting more general stuff on the class forums, i just feel more "at home" in here)</blockquote><font color="FFFF00">No worries. Its a question regarding a warlock and how to improve, so it fits here. I had same problems beeing at your lvl, and I guess many others have it too. The bottom line is anything that helps you do more damage is good.  Strength be damned!  At higher levels this will become less of a problem.  There are several quests around that result in a weight reduction bag.  Also, you need to ask yourself if everything your carrying is *really* needed.  Drop all the excess in the bank.</FONT><BR><BR></P> <P>Message Edited by Epictetus on <SPAN class=date_text>12-19-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>02:03 AM</SPAN><BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE><BR>

If you want to find just mastercrafted on the broker...Choose Cloth Armor, and from the dropdown Tier box...choose Mastercrafted. You might want to consider the 'Tranquil' stuff, as it gives you more int... at the cost of other stats.  As we get dmg + power from int, I think the sacrifice is worth it.You can find a list of the items, along with stats <a href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=a9&message.id=4131" target=_blank>here on the Tailor Forums.</a><div></div>
