When it comes to a game at the massive level of EQ2, I am generally against raising my level before getting everything done from the original zones. So when I got Kingdom of Sky (My first expansion, so no Desert of Flames) recently, I am at a conundrum about what to do with my warlock. With 220 INT at level 50, I'm satisfied with my character's performance, although I know I can do better. I have several heritage quests in Lavastorm and Everfrost that can give me some nice cloth, but those quests are giant pains to get through. I've had groups in Obelisk, Cazic-Thule and Permafrost before, but that had not given me anything special (besides the nice chest-piece). I have never been able to do Solsek's Eye (I have no idea how to get through Lavastorm). So, the main question concerning my character is: Should I go through these instances more times in the chance I get some nice cloth loot, or do I start the series of quests in the Shattered Sands and better my character that way?

Decisions, decisions, decisions, I'm at an impass.

You are 50 that means you are at the cap for the "old world". The loot you get there will be outdated soon as you level up. An trust me, 50-60 will be quicker as you would think Or did you intend to disable your combat XP?I guess now that EoF comes out next week you may skip DoF probably and continue your adventures in Kelethin But there is a lot of nice stuff in DoF, like Shimmering CItadel, Poets Palace, the Courts and Gates raid instances and at the lower end (early 50s) there is lots to do solo wise as well, like doing faction quests near the docks to get access to one of the courts in Maj'Dul...

Especially when compared to 60-70 which really is easy with it's mobs, easier collections, much more discovery xp, and players to drag you through instances....

Im at 52 now, and really enjoying DoF.Im fortunate in that I have an alt lvl 69 provisioner, and made quite a bit of plat before the changes. This means I have been able to twink my char pretty well (I have no lvl 70 adventurers tho, so I am reliant upon my crafter for cash). There is definately a load of stuff to do in SS and Maj'dul which is great fun. Ive skipped Permafrost, Soluseks Eye...pretty much everything since Feerrott/CT as I moved into SS at around 46 iirc.Be sure to do some of the longer quests such as the Carpet Quest (CQ) i(f you need a 40% mount) and the Peacock Club. You will need a group for the CQ, but a lot of the peacock can be soloed. More info on the Peacock line can be found here.TBH i've mainly been soloing as I never have more than a couple of hours online which is why I never bothered with the tier 5 group instances. Warlocks aren't easy soloers, but with a bit of luck and some upgraded equip we are fine...in particular...encounter soloing gets easier with the 3 upgraded/new spells for encounters between 48 and 50 (Nil Absolution, Dark Nebula, Devastation).Once you get to 55, in theory you can group with lvl 70s without stopping xp gains...so if you have a gorup of high level friends, they can run you through KOS instances for easy xping.Dont forget...if you haven't been preparing your spells for your next few levels, now is the time to start. After lvl 50, you dont get app I spells automatically when you level. All spells 51+ need scribing, nad some are more dificult than others to get.

Unfortunately I do not have a provisioner to supply me with plat, my warlock is a level 40 jeweler and my alt is a 29 woodworker, so crafting will not give me much. As I said in my first post, I do not have desert of flames, meaning that I probably cannot do most, if any of the things you mentioned. I also got the "old cap" before getting Kingdom of Sky, so I have a lot to do. I never disable combat xp, but I'd like to explore for a bit, see the sights and get a lot of quests done before they get outdated. And I also doubt I'll be getting EoF at all (I can't just go out and get expansions like that, I'm not out of school yet). For the people who had high warlocks what equipment did you use at the 50+ range?

In terms of spells, I do everything I can to keep all of them at least Adept 1. Once I realize how I can ever get more than 1 plat, I'll get my best spells to adept 3.

The advantage of getting EoF is that it comes with DoF and KoS. You will have all the DoF content available to you and you will be able to harvest the raws to level your jeweler.

It's confirmed, I can't go to the Sinking Sands since I don't have Desert of Flames. What I have to do is to grind the T5 zones until I can get high enough to fight in Tenebrous Tangle. Do I have much to look for there?
