Someone wanna explain to me why mana shield is bad?

Glancing over the AA's for my new warlock. It seems like picking up mana shield and having a 5000+ extra hp from my mana pool would provide very a nice survivability boost, especially in PvP (which I do alot). But reading some of the posts from the sorcorer boards about how much mana shield sucks ect... has gotten me a bit concered about my choice. I need an experanced lock or wizzy to tell me why it's not worth picking up... <span>:smileysad:</span> <div></div>

<P>I will reply to this one.  Although I dont have mana shield I can tell you that I usually have over 5k hp and 7k power during most raids.  If I get agro, I die within 1 to 2 hits of most encounters.  Having the extra 7k woudl make me last maybe a couple more hits, but I would still die.</P> <P> </P> <P>Bottom line is, once you get agro 9 times out of 10 you are dead no matter how many HP you have.  Cloth wearers = paper armor.</P>

Hahaha I couldn't have said it better myself.  Don't forget if you drain all your power with a mana shield, you're still oop and the mob will still inevitably kill you anyway...not worth the HUGE waste of points to get the ability, either.  I am built for max hp during raids so that I can survive all AE's we encounter, but manashield is just over the top, I can't see an instance where it would really help other than running away from a monster or something. <div></div>

<P>a) as a warlock you job do damage not soak damage thus depleting your mana pool during AoE hits aren't going to do any good for raid and for you</P> <P>b) as for PvP ..... dude I hate to tell you that but at lvl 70 everyone immune to any kind of magical attack be it elemental, arcane or noxious attack. Well then you have self buffed over 8K resist in major areas and over 5K in secondary you pretty much can laugh in the face of wizard or warlock trying to land on you ANY spells. In sence on any PvP server picking mage class to play is BAD choice - best PvP classes are rogues</P>
