<DIV>Was told no familars on Gorenaire raid since it could die and spawn adds. I have never seen my familar die or even get hurt. When I die, it poofs is it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any raiding warlocks/wizzies know if this is true? Can familars be killed? I want to use it to up my dps or lower my aggro or something. I feel naked without it!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>thanks</DIV> <DIV>giot 70 warlock</DIV>

They did when they were first added to the game.  Now they don't.  Also, they cannot attack so when your raid leader is fighting a mob that has a random target change such as Nerbl the Playful (I think that's the spelling) and says no pets, it is up to you to say "Nope, my little drake/book/gargoyle is stickin' around."

<DIV>they can however get dispelled, and even grab aggro depending on the buffs in your group (but this is a very rare situation - but happend to me with Chel'Drak for example)....</DIV>

That mob will spawn adds for everything that gets hit by his AoE, including your familiar pet. You can use a familiar on that fight, just move it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of range and tell it to stay put.Yes your familiar can die to AoE, mine dies from the last mob in the nest every night.<div></div>

<P>I've never noticed mine dying to an AE. But there have been times when I happen to notice that my familiar is "missing". Not really sure how it got killed :smileysurprised:. Could have been from an AE or just a mob agroing it. </P> <P>While soloing, I've seen random mobs agro and attack my familiar. Usually when I run by them, get agro, then they switch to my pet. For some reason my pet has some pretty good hate, because I have debuffed and dropped a couple of DoTs on mobs and they stay on him. It's not until I nuke them do they switch to me.</P> <P>As far as raids, we've never had a problem with pets getting killed on the AE from Gorenair. Maybe because we are at max range and joust the AE (you should be jousting it). If you're worried about it, just move out of AE Range, tell your pet to stay, and them move back to your position. Problem solved.</P>
