so I'm wondering if it would be the smart thing to put my first fiew AA points I get (when I get them) into int (or possibly stamina)...then at some poitn when I have say 30 points or so, respec into the longer term line?My reasoning is that int affects my damage right? so wouldn't my short term best gain be from int? or stamina (if I get hit on a lot)?

The extra damage you'll get from putting four points in your INT line (total of 16 int) isn't going to make enough of a difference that you'll really notice it. Apart from getting a nice little +32 STR buff from that line, the points you put into stat buffs are pretty much just waste on your way to the really nice abilities.

I did exactly that. put points into INT and the useful stuff in INT line until i got 25 points. I then spent 1 silver to go down the STR line and buy catalyst. I enjoyed the extra INT and less aggro but then went another line once i could buy the final catalyst. There are other lines you can do this with too, but in my opinions it is fun to have another line for a while before you respec. And Int is useful and i sure did pull aggro a whole lot less grinding to lvl 70.

In short, do whatever your little heart desires, but you will be respeccing eventually so take advantage of it!

Giot

70 warlock befallen
