I posted this on the wizard forums as well, but figured I'd post here so I can get some input from both sides.I know there are a ton of topics on this already, some conflicting since the LU24 change apparently...so I'm just looking for a bit of up-to-date advice. The wife and I have been playing for a couple months and now we're trying out a wizard-warlock duo combination. Our main's are a Monk/Warden where we can do grouped ^^ and ^^^ up fairly easily. We've created the alts for a change of pace and it's definitely requiring a different playstyle. We've died quite a few times already but it definitely fills the change we were looking for. This leads me to my question. Most of the recommendations I've read for this duo talk about root and nuke while many say don't use DOTs. Do we just avoid any spells that put a DOT on them altogether? My wife is playing the warlick and we only started last night so we're level 10 currently and it seems that the majority of our spells put some type of DOT on the mob. So is it really just..root, cast a nuke..wait for either to refresh and go again?

I don't think a warlock/wizard works very well - if you want 2 mages then try a wizard/coercer.

I sometimes duo some of the harder t7 nameds with a guild wizard, and it works out fine though you need good resists for most of the caster nameds and competing for agro with the wizard while double rooting is always fun and we're quite sure to win even on the hardest heroic nameds out there. I wouldn't know how it is at the lower tiers but end-game it's a great duo if both of you know what you're doing. Would recommend it if you have a good gear and already have significant solo experience.

Otherwise try wizard/warlock with an illusionist, works great.

I three box (and use to two box) triplets of Warlocks, Necros, Illusionists and Conjurers. It would be nice to have an evac I guess, but I like to stick to a classes strengths. With two Warlocks you have twice the AE damage. I guess Wizard has AE, but I dont think it stacks up to Warlocks, and I find stacking Warlock AE is pretty effective. You can double up on debuffs, so if one is resisted, you still have on one it. Plus both characters benefit from it.My triplets of Conjurers and Necros are in a way better, since the pets hold aggro quite well. Necros never pull aggro with the three pets always pulling a mob back. I recall my duos (when I only twoboxed) work pretty well.I guess as two independent people, running two different characters is less of a problem than multiboxing. Illusionist and Wizard does sound pretty good. Personally two pet classes work really well. With a pet class and a Wizard, the Wizard will end up pulling aggro, so its really not as effective IMO as either two Wizards (or Warlocks) or two pet classes. The Sorcerers drop stuff before it gets to you. The pet classes let the pets hold aggro and nuke/dot for fast dropping of mobs.Mal
