I searched on pvp and AA but was not able to find any real info on how people are using there AA points for PVP. I always play with a group and I want to do the most damage possible against my opponents. (Not really concerned about aggro) I was wondering how the strength line works once you max it out and it says it always does critical damage does this work like it sounds in PVP? Also wanted to see if this was the best way to go for a pvp warlock and see if anyone else has other suggestions besided the strength line. I am open to all ideas but like I said I want to proc the most damage possible :smileywink:

Thanks in advance...

Message Edited by ShogoD on 07-25-2006 07:34 PM

i am testing the aa lines, too. i have made a warlock twink, currently 24 and the aa lines all are not very good. there is not THE best line in my eyes. i went for the str line now. all other lines require for example that your secondary slot has to be empty and such stuff. i not happy with all the aa lines. i have a warden with lvl 70 on a pvp and learnt here that it is not necessary to go for the main aa line, in this case wis. you will get so much items in higher levels to specialize your main skill that you don't have to add more through aa. much more important in pvp (when not only raiding) is damage and that is true for healers as well. i went for int and agi because of that (agi because of animal charm).

so the warlock too would need damage thus i spent my points on the lines which will increase my damage. reducing spell cost is nice, but not important in pvp. pvp fights - especially against cloth armor weares - do not last long enough that it would help you much. but it helps if you do some 100 points additional damage with each spell or not. so i think str line in the first look is not the worst.

but perhaps someone which is higher in levels can tell more about the lines.

Your a Warlock - so even with Crits you aren't going to one-shot or hell even 2 shot anyone. Having one crit spell isn't going to make any differance unfortunately.

Upping the Base amounts of damage is probably best - it makes your adept3's almost M1's (in damage not resistability) and M1's almost M2's. And that is a passive skill so it's always on.

Secondly - you cant fight when your dead. Mages die near instantly in pvp fights. With that in mind - I've really enjoyed manashield. It's given me enough time to finish off people 1 on 1 (sometimes), but without it I would of been dead without even a shot at winning.

Even grouped, everyone will go for you - so you can use it to give the healers those 3 seconds to heal you and turn it off (or lose all your power)., but again your alive so you can at least do stuff.

It's personal choice but we don't in fact have that good of AA lines for pvp. Just my personal experience here.

Gildon

70 Warlock - Venekor

I went STR 4/4/4/8 and AGI 4/4/5/8/8. I only group pvp with my warlock, for obvious reasons

I went the STR line cause of the crits in it and the extra parry is always welcome too.

The AGI line is pretty cool. It allows me to cast faster, less chance on getting interrupted and it lowers the recast times on my spells. It might not seem much, but having Apocalypse from a 45sec reuse to a 39.6 reuse is pretty nice.

The reason scouts are so hot in pvp, is because htey have fast casting times. They can just cast alot of CA's before you even get your first CA off. That's the reason I wanted to go for faster Casting. So I can get more spells off faster and do more burst damage to groups. It forces healers to realy only heal and gets them out of power realy fast. At least in group situations.

In the AGI line you also get a fast interrupt CA, which when you see a scout sneaking up on you in grps allows you to unstealth him and avoid his big attack. Then finaly the faster in combat run speed for mages is cool when you have all the scouts rushing you, just run them around

I started out in AGI, but the availability of decent mage daggers before the 60s is less than ideal, so I switched over to WIS, which I then maxed out. The extra damage and reduced mana cost is decent, though as others note, the Warlock doesn't get a really exceptional AA line.

I'm undecided now about whether to pump points into WIS still to max out the interim steps, or go for something else. WIS though forces me to essentialy use a one-handed weapon of sorts and keep the secondary slot free, so my only real choices are 1) pump points into the remaining WIS slots, 2) bump up INT, STA, and AGI at the base level, or 3) go AGI, and switch to a dagger again.

I only group PvP really, for a variety of reasons. I usually trio with a Fury and a Guardian, which is pretty good for PvP, but I prefer a full group (obviously). Soloing is, well, suicide usually.

-----------------------------

Carnifax 63 Warlock, Venekor

Qeynos
