<DIV>I am very interested in what would be the best use of spells and the order to cast them in to achieve the best possibe DPS for a warlock.  Lets assume only top tier spells.  Some examples that I am thinking of at present would be... Should I debuff 1st, should I case Aura line 1st or perhaps DOTs.  Should I be looking to do max DPS at all or should I be more inclined to debuff as much as possible etc etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is very much a "teach me what to cast in what order" to ready me for my 1st few raids to zones like the Labs so that I can start raiding with at least a little bit of knowledge of the best chance for DPS.</DIV>

<DIV>I usually start off with dots *war pyre and scourge* then do dark infestation then netherlord then debuff.. deaggro with vulian then I start the nukes before the debuffs run off.. then rinse and repeat</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>depends on raid makeup tank able to hold agro you got someone stealing agro from you multiple mobs 3 , 5 ,7 how long will the fight last they die super fast or you talking long term fight  several minutes ?.</P> <P>for max dps you need to use all your spells as soon as they pop up but you need to make sure you don't gain agro either make sure you pick up the dps aa's that will help alot and proc items as we cast alot it adds up.</P> <P>short multi group mobs open with your deagro as they enter then cast  rift is awesome on multi mob short term fight cast the encounter deagro as mobs are headed in then rift you can see 3-4 k dps on fight won't see it often but is fun when you can <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>long term fight you have to worry about keeping power while you keep agro off and dps up use your deagro every chance and your power regen like manastone and orther stuff i also carry around clarity potions to keep power up i can go threw 40 plus a nite of those and still have the fight going while i am oom so not as easy as you may think <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>best dps zone for us in the end is lyc so many multiple mob encounters it owns <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

<DIV>Start with de-buff, then stick on main target (or better say target that will die last) DI then procced Nebula, Vullian, Rift, FHSed Apocal, Null Caress, Void Abs, Chaostorm. As soon as broodlings up - hit Netherous Realm. If encounter not yet dead - you might rotating Nebula, Vullian, Chaostorm, Void Abs - since they on fairly fast recast</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For single target debuff, Nihilistic Aura, DI, NL, Concur, FHSed Apocal, VI, Void D - if broodling up - Neth realm in the end I usually end up rotating Void Abs, Void D, DI, NL and Apocal</DIV> <DIV>War Pyre is ok but even with M1 it do barely 2K damage per cast - so unless I dont have anything better to cast I'll use it otherwise I'd stick with more heavy hitters</DIV>

- try to keep your dot's up, the dmg numbers per tick may are low - but the dmg/mana is outstanding - and they do sum up...- never use rift on a single encounter, only if there are two or more. rift has heavy mana & casttime costs - the dmg only pays back if you have to hit more then one encounter<div></div>

<P>I always thought of Rift as a very close range attack and never expected to be close enough to the big nasty raid mob for this to do anything so thia advice alone has helped me rething tactics.</P> <P>All of the information in fact is very very useful.  I wiill be putting it to the test but with all Adept III+ and about half masters want to see myself in the top 8 or so DPS quite often from the outset hence the need for advice.  The class is only ever as good as the player who plays it.</P>

One thing I see frequently overlooked in these discussions is survivability. I dont raid much (family guild) but I got an invite to an MoA4 raid and noticed something particular. I am a 70 warlock and was grouped with another 70 warlock and a 67 wizard. I had almost 800 more hps than either of them. Probably due to more STA gear, as we were equally buffed. When we fought the final named who has a nasty and unavoidable AoE they died with the first hit everytime and I didn't. They would then get rezzed (with minimal mana) and get back into the fight. When your dead your DPS goes to 0. I'm sure over the course of the fight I ended up much migher than they did simply because I lived through the AoE blasts. Someone in the raid had been spamming the top 10 (or so) raid dps during most fights and was keeping up with them reasonably well as we went also. Ok, so this goes to setup/gear not so much spell line up and direct tactics. <div></div>

Or just make a conjuror. Their encounter dps/single-target dps is just overpowered. <div></div>

basically keep your dots running at all times and hit your nukes whenever possible and whenever the aura line pops cast that whenever possible

<P>^^ What Xede said + casting NR/Corrupt Gift. You'll figure out an optimal spell rotation eventually.</P> <P> </P> <P>-Kai</P>

I debuff, keep the dots up, nukes in between, debuff again, dots & nukes again, I'm always casting something and keep my dps up, but I never cast Rift. It's way too situational and I never use it on raid mobs. That spell is a Warlock's poisonous gift if you ask me.Everytime I see a Warlock pull aggro, and die, it is because of Rift used on a multi-mob encounter... and no, it wasn't because the tank sucked. The risk is just too high to use it. It's way more important to stay alive and don't jeapordize the raid or encounter by stressing your tank and healers.

rift produces near to no aggro, cause the dmg is a secondary effect of the main spell. so only way to get aggro with rift, is pulling additional encounters.rift is a great spell - but nothing to dump fire...<div></div>

<DIV>Just a not re parses.  I use A.C.T. and I notice I get very different results depending on my distance from the mob.  Ideally someone might have some advice on this.  When I am in range and can use the Aura line for example I can see the numbers of the melee DPS slying up from the mob and they parse on my ACT parse of the fight.  When I am out of this range casting only the long range hits for high AoE Avoidance for example then they do not show on the screen or the parse (as they wont be in the log presumably) and I parse only myself and the other casters by my side.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone able to assist in extending the range of the parser or the log ?  This realisation really came about when myself and an Assassin using the same program on the same raid found ourselves with quite different figures.  More research yielded this issue.</DIV>
